James Moore Obituary

POQUOSON - James Christian Moore Jr., 62, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008.
Christian was born in Poquoson on May 30, 1946, and was a lifelong resident. He was self-employed for many years as an equipment operator and commercial truck driver.
Christian was an avid sports fan and particularly loved watching NASCAR and the Hokies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and his "home away from home" in Fairfield, N.C. He was a loving Daddy and loyal friend.
Christian was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Elesma Hudgins Moore; his maternal grandparents, Robert Carroll and Laura Sibley Garland; his parents, James C. "Jimmy" and Olivia G. "Libby" Moore; his aunt and uncle, Mabel G. and Morton E. Clarke; and his sisters-in-law, Becky Moore and Carole Moore.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Leslie S. Moore; two brothers, Carroll G. Moore and H. Emory Moore; his sister, Olivia M. "Libby" Griebel and her husband, Benny; six nephews, Jamie, Garland, Justin, and Starkey Moore, and Benjamin and Christopher Griebel; his ex-wife and friend, Nancy Anderson; and last, but certainly not least, his faithful four-legged companion, Lucky.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, and other times at 46 Shoreline Drive, Poquoson. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Moore family cemetery on Shoreline Drive by Pastor Donald G. Marsh.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Poquoson Rescue Squad, 830 Poquoson Ave., or to the Poquoson Museum, P. O. Box 2163, both in Poquoson, VA, 23662. Online condolences to www.claytorrollins.com .
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Archie Hoyt and his staff. Christian was truly an original and he will be forever loved and missed. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Ray and I are unable to attend this evening, however, we will be there in spirit.

We first met Christian at Owens Marina in Poquson. The jokes, the laughter, the stories but most of all we will miss his smile. What a wonderful individual and such a fun loving people person he was. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do if a person needed help. Lots of memories - we shall miss him dearly.

All the family are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
