Emil Owens Obituary

MATHEWS - Emil Lee Barker Owens passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008.
She was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Romney, W.Va. Mrs. Owens was a lifelong member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church where she served as organist and Sunday School Teacher for over 45 years. She worked as a seamstress at the Craftman's Shop for many years and became a self-employed seamstress after she retired.
She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Marion (Sam) Owens and is survived by two daughters, Judy Haynes and her husband, Jennings and Cheryl Wheeler and her husband, Coleman; five grandchildren, Tonya Wheeler-Weaver of Gloucester, Kim Haynes-Moore, Jay Haynes, Shannon Wheeler, and Kori Haynes-Neely all of Mathews along with eight great- grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Peary, Va. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 2 p. m. at the church with burial in St. Paul Annex Cemetery, Susan, Va.
