Vivian Taylor Obituary

HAMPTON - Mrs. Vivian Taylor, the daughter of the late Drayton and Elizabeth Geathers Green, was born May 24, 1944, in McClellanville, S.C. She received her education at Lincoln High School in McClellanville, S.C., and continued on to receive her A.A.S. at Lehman College in the Bronx, N.Y. She departed this earthly journey on Sept. 13, 2008, at Riverside Regional Medical Center after a lifetime of illness.
She was the biological mother to one and the grandmother to one, but she was both a mother and grandmother figure to all who knew her. She was kind hearted and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her faith in God and family were important in her life and it showed through her love and generosity.
Vivian leaves to cherish her memories her one and only daughter, Alisa Taylor; her loving granddaughter, Courtney Taylor; three sisters, Nellie Ann Manigault, Addie Mae Green, and Verley Mae Kirkland (Vernon) all of New York; three brothers, Earl Green, Cephus Green, both of Charleston, S.C., and Fred Green of Bronx, N.Y.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph D. Taylor of 39 years; (mother) Elizabeth Green; (father) Drayton Green; (sister) Ann Green; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and (mother-in-law) Hattie Cooke.
A special thank you to the staff at Riverside Regional Medical Center and Bon Secours Home Health. Thank you for caring for Vivian and her family in the time of need.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Queen Street Baptist Church, 190 W. Queens Way, with the Rev. Anderson W. Clary Jr., officiating. Viewing will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, from 2 to 6 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home, Ronald C. Perkins Jr., funeral director. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
