Saw the vartv.com mention of Dave's passing only today. He was one of the great Characters at NBC29; I remember having to go get him with the conpany 4X4 a couple of times very early on a snowy morning, so he could sign on the station. It's sad that I can never again run into him, or hear his radio show, when passing thru C'ville.

Dave was one of the best directors I've worked with in television and one of the best people I've known in life. I'll miss his presence here on earth, but I know his spirit lives and laughs in anyone who knew him. My sincere condolences to his family. Take care my old friend as we "fade to black,"...but not for long.

I will surely miss chatting with David at the middle school. I always looked forward to seeing him and talking about our girls. He inspired me with his resolve to help the kids he taught, and to be a good father.

So sad to hear of Dave's passing. His dry sense of humor always made a bad day a little better at Channel 29. A fellow Beatle fan, I last saw Dave at a Paul McCartney concert. How fitting!

It seemed like forever and a day ago when Dave told me he had been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. How wonderful that God gave him so much more time to spread his smile and his passion for Christ and his passion for teaching and for music and so many other things before calling him home. His legacy includes even the simplest of things, like how conversations we had years ago have carried forward in my life and contributed to my growth as a person. Dave, my friend, you will be missed but you will never be forgotten. God Bless.

How sad to hear of Dave's passing. He was a truly memorable force at the start of my broadcasting career, and though I left Central Virginia in the early 90's, I never forgot about him. Working with him at WVIR was some of the most fun I ever had. My deepest sympathy and regards to the family.

I remember Dave as the funniest man at Channel 29 -- I worked with him there in the mid 80's and always loved his off-the-wall, irreverent but caring sense of humor. He was someone that made the workplace fun, not a bad testament for life I think. I'm glad he touched so many lives after that time.

Dave's many friends at Monticello were truly saddened by the news of his passing.
He assisted us on many occasions with his technical skills, and we always enjoyed his good company.
He will be truly missed here on the mountain as elsewhere.

I worked with David when he was a driver @ Domino's Pizza in C-Ville. We missed him when he left because of his health. I remember the day he told me he had to take time off. We all hoped and prayed he would get better and come back to work with us. I hadn't seen or talked to David in quite some time since then. I got his e-mail address from him and we played Fantasy Football online a few times. We will all miss him. He was always cracking jokes and smiling. Everytime he worked with me he would ask me about my cat Cleo. My prayers are with his family. I am saddened by his passing but I know now he is watching over all of us. God Bless

I have known the "Blev" since juinor high school. He will always be remembered for the "cigarette dances" at the "Holiday House" I regret not seeing him too much in the last few years but when I did he always had a smile and a memory to share. He will be sorely missed.

Alida,
I was so sorry to hear the news about Dave. I worked with him at Channel 29 and always enjoyed his irreverant humor. He had a big heart.
Years after I had left Charlottesville, I would visit frequently. And once I happened to tune in his radio show. I called the staion request line, we caught up briefly, and he sent out a song for me.
I can still hear him laughing.
