It's been a long time, and David is still in my thoughts. He was my best friend for many years in our tweens and teens, and he was there for me often when other people weren't or couldn't be.

David was kind, thoughtful, and considerate. He was knowledgeable and intelligent and wise beyond his years. Even more than 20 years since I last saw him, from halfway around the world from Dallas, he's still in my thoughts.

I thought y'all might want to hear that, that all the way here in Ireland, an old friend still thinks fondly of David, and that his kindness and his life aren't - and won't - be forgotten. As we say on this side of the pond, Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anam.

I just wanted to extend my condolences to the family. I went to school with David at Lake Highlands and we were in the band and colorguard together. He was such a good friend to me and I will always remember how he helped me through some difficult times in my life.

David came to work for Kinkos on Greenville Ave in Dallas several years ago. I used to work the midnight shift and so I trained him for about three weeks. He was an easy going, had a good head on his shoulders nice guy. If more people were like him this world would be a better place.

Your David sounded like a remarkable young man on the cusp of life's journey. Whatever made him choose his ultimate fate will not be known to you, just know that his choice was his alone to make and his alone to understand. When the pain subsides a tiny bit you will remember all that was beautiful and special about the David you knew. Do not torture yourselves with the "whys"--what is done cannot be undone. Remember him with love and treat yourselves with love, as well. Yours is now the most difficult job---to carry on and allow his memory to come softly, in gentle waves. God is watching over you and if you let Him, He will help you cope with this devastation that has crashed into your lives without warning. Take your time to grieve --everyone has their own schedule and ways of dealing with sudden death. May God bless you and hold you in His hand during this sad, sad time.

I have fond memories of David. He was the funniest kid. We sat next to eachother in 2 classes in junior high and I think I kind of annoyed him because he was so focused and I was always talking to him and distracting him. But he was definitely funny. And so smart. I pray he is with the Lord now.

Dear Ruth, Sarah, and family, Jace emailed me about your loss. I know that you must all be grieving his choice and celebrating his life at the same time. There are some we only have for a while and remember for an eternity. David was such a sweet and sensitive person. His smile was one that came from a very warm heart. I loved his enthusiasm for school and his pursuit of knowledge was contagious. I know the post high school years pass by quickly, but please know that we all will miss your precious David. God will comfort you all and carry you through this time of deep sorrow. Trust in Him to help you to find hope on the horizon. In your hearts, David is eternal. God bless you and may He heal the pain you are experiencing. You are in my prayers and thoughts.
Sincerely, Jan Alexander
