Ardys Barnard

Barnard, Ardys Elaine (94), loving wife, mother and grandmother was born December 9, 1913 to Irma Swallum and Henry Granzow in Edmond, OK. Ardys passed away peacefully at her home, one day after the loss of her dear husband Hap, on June 30, 2008. She married the love of her life, W.C. "Hap" Barnard in Edmond, OK on June 3, 1939 and recently celebrated a 69th wedding anniversary. She is survived by son Larry Barnard and his wife Marla of Farmers Branch, TX, daughter Karen Comiskey and her husband Gus of Houston, TX, granddaughter Lisa Forman and her husband Bryan of Tyler, TX and grandson Tony Barnard of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by two great-grandsons, Nic and Jack Forman, a nephew Randy Granzow and his wife Brenda of Edmond, OK and numerous other family and dear friends. Ardys was preceded in death by her husband W.C. "Hap" Barnard, her parents, and her only sibling Gordon Granzow and his wife Jackie. Ardys graduated from Central State College of Oklahoma with a degree in Education and earned her Master's Degree from East Texas State University. A long time Garland resident, she was responsible for the origination and development of the elementary school music program where she served as its Director for over 26 years. Ardys was a recipient of many honors including continual recognition by the State of Texas All-Girl's choir as well as involvement in numerous social and civic organizations. She was a proud and active long time member of the First United Methodist Church Garland, TX serving through many capacities including years of piano playing and leadership. Ardys was dedicated to family, music, sports and travel, but most of all to her loving husband. The passing of these two sweet souls together proves that two hearts do beat as one. The family will have a private burial at Restland in Dallas and a celebration of her life, along with her husband Hap, is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Wednesday July 2, 2008 at First United Methodist Church Garland, TX .
