Riedi, Jay M. 4/21/1918 - 3/10/2009 JAY M. RIEDI WHO WAS BORN IN, AND LIVED 85 OF HIS 90 YEARS IN HIS BELOVED DUBUQUE IOWA, PASSED FROM THIS LIFE ON TUESDAY MARCH 10, 2009 IN PLANO, TEXAS WHERE HE AND HIS WIFE, GRACE, LIVED NEAR THEIR SON, GREG, AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW NORMA. JAY WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY HIS MOTHER, BERTHA, HIS FATHER MARTIN, AND HIS BROTHERS CHARLES AND JOHN ROBERT. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE OF 62 YEARS, GRACE VERONICA (SCHUSTER) RIEDI, HIS SONS ROCK AND GREG, HIS DAUGHTER CARLA AND HIS GRANDCHILDREN JESSE AND JASON. JAY RIEDI IS, AND WILL BE, MISSED BY MANY. JAY WAS MAN'S MAN AND NOT A MAN EASILY FORGOTTEN. HE CAST A SHADOW WHEREVER HE WENT AND LEFT MEMORIES WITH, AND LASTING IMPRESSIONS ON, ALL WHO WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE MET HIM. JAY RIEDI WILL BE REMEMBERD AS A HARD WORKING MAN WITH TRUE MIDWESTERN VALUES AND WITH A HEART AS BIG AS HIS FISTS AND WHO USED ALL WITH EQUAL AND POSITIVE IMPACT. FROM HIS YOUTH AS A RASCAL OF THE DEPRESSION ERA TO HIS DAYS AS A WWII COMBAT VETERAN AND A US NAVY BOXING CHAMPION THROUGH HIS LIFE AS COWBOY, CASINO OPERATOR, AND SALESMAN EXTRAORDINAIRE JAY RIEDI ALWAYS LEFT HIS MARK ON THE HEARTS AND SOULS HE TOUCHED. HE LIVED HIS LIFE WITH PASSION AND WILL BE REMEMBERED AS HUSBAND, FATHER, AND FRIEND. GOD BLESSES YOU JAY. YOU ARE MISSED.
