Joseph Grammond Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 4, 2007.
Joseph A. Grammond, 24, lifelong Superior area resident, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007 as a result of injuries from a motor vehicle accident. He was born on April 21, 1983 in Duluth, Minn. to Joseph C. and Deena M. (Ellefson) Grammond. In 2001, Joe was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America with Troop 213 in Superior. Joe's Eagle Scout project was the development of a campsite in the Superior Municipal Forest. Joe graduated from Superior Senior High School in 2001. He also attended Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College and was the 2004 WITC Campus Ambassador. In 2005, he received a Machine Tool Technician Degree with honors. Joe had been employed at Old Town Woodworks in Superior, Wis. and Metal Professionals in South Range, Wis. and most recently at Roberts Automatic Products in Chanhassen, Minn. as a machinist and fixture maker. He was very talented in his profession. Joe loved to work with his hands. From legos when he was young to a promising and successful career as a machinist. Joe was always making or fixing something and loved anything to do with tools and machines. Some of Joe's favorite things were spending time with his family and friends, camping and canoeing with his dad and Boy Scout Buddy's. He loved playing guitar with his little brother Charlie and his musician friends, motorcycle riding with his sister Nikki and special friend Elly and his biking buddies. Joe also enjoyed having dinner at the China Inn with his mother and friends. He was known by his Boy Scout friends as 'Little Joe' and by his family as 'Joe Bear.' Joe was a great kid with a big heart and a very bright future. He was called home to God too early and he will be terribly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Fred Grammond in 1969 and Ernie Ellefson in 1991. Joe is survived by his mother and father, Deena and Joe Grammond; sister, Nikki and brother Charlie all of Superior, Wis.; grandmothers, Mary Lou Peterson, Duluth, Minn. and Jeanne Grammond, Superior, Wis. VISITATION:5 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in Downs LeSage Funeral Home, Superior and continues from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the 10:30 a.m. service in Cathedral of Christ the King Church, Superior.
