This is extremely sad news for me.
I owe Les my entire success. He was the first to discover me and believe in my talent.
He always hired me for voice-over and radio work
and we had a wonderfully close relationship kidding around, laughing and telling jokes.
His was a unique talent. He had a way with jingles and words.
I used to tell him that my husband was the biggest procrastinator of them all and he asked me why he doesn't join the club. My answer was simple -- "he just never has gotten around to it yet!"
Les, thank you so much for enriching my life.
I am sending you this virtual hug with a little tear running down my cheek.
I will never forget you.
Hugs, Pepper Herman

My son, John Carroll was Les' caregiver and had him at our house on a number of occasions.
He was not only Johnny's client, but more importantly a best friend.
They did everything together from outings in parks to a get away down to Ocean City so Les could be a part of the family vacation.
Lunches and movies to fireworks in our backyard on July 4th.
I remember Les' last visit to our house a few months ago.
They made chocolate chip cookies and had grilled cheese sandwiches. He was on top of the world!
He was a part of our family. We will all miss him dearly.
Yesterday, the day he passed away we heard the ice cream truck driving in the neighborhood for the first time this year. It was playing the Mr. Softy jingle Les wrote.
That was Les telling Johnny he was ok and thanking him. Johnny had an ice cream cone in his honor.
Everyday when we hear the ice cream truck and jingle we will always think of Les!
