L. Higbee Obituary

Aug. 31, 1923 - Jan. 07, 2008. L.Varie Higbee Passed away on Monday Jan. 7th. She was born in Edison, CO. to James and Coral Gahart. She was a lifelong resident of the Colorado Springs and Woodland Park area. She married her husband Elmo Higbee (Deceased) on Dec. 5th 1942 here in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker all her life raising two children Tanna (Bob) Murr, and James (Rosie) Higbee. L.Varie is survived by Brothers Laverne (Marge) Gahart, Ben (Ilse) Gahart, Ron (Betsy) Gahart, and Sister Maurine Higbee, her grandchildren Cindy (Robb) Rayfield, and Wendy (Brent) Mott, great grandchildren, Andrew, Kevin, and Annika Rayfield and Ryan and Chase Mott. Meme (as her grandchildren and great grandchildren called her) will be missed by all who knew her. Her brother Lavelle Gahart preceded her in death. L.Varie was a Worthy Matron of the O.E.S. #58 in 1969. She loved to cook, gardening, embroidery, and spending time with her family and friends. In her later years she lived at the Windsong Retiree Center where she had many friends. A Visitation will be held Monday Jan. 14th from 4-7 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, 3825 Airport Road, C/S. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Jan. 15th at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will follow at Windsong Retiree Center after the service.
