I have known Jackie here in Silver City, NM for several years and for the last year or so she has been an important member/leader of our Grant County American Association of University Women (AAUW) Branch. I will miss Jackie as a dear friend as well as a passionate AAUW member.

As soon as I returned to Michigan from graduate school in 1976, it seemed as if I were always running into Jackie - at meetings of the Michigan Historical Society, at Local History seminars in Detroit, at annual conferences of the Michigan Historic Preservation Network. No matter how much time had passed since the last time we'd talked, we could always jump right into a conversation about historic buildings that mattered, issues surrounding cultural resources in Michigan, the marketing and sale of historic homes to caring new owners, preservation in Chelsea. Jackie was passionate about history and inspired a lot of people along the way. She will be missed here. My thoughts are with you John.

Our neighborhood and town lost a true friend in Jackie's passing. She was so bright and so gracious. I will never forget her delight when we were with her when she discovered her parquet floor in the dining room. We will miss her humor, her passion, her intelligence and hope she is now watching over all of us. Bless you Jackie and thank you so much for all you've done. John, I'm certain she's especially watching over you to keep you well. You have our deepest sympathy.

I am deeply sorry to hear about Jackie's passing. I had the honor of working closely with them on a couple of projects (the NHRP nomination for their beautiful house and the draft NRHP nomination for downtown Chelsea). Jackie and John have been such wonderful champions for Chelsea and I believe the health and vitality of the community is due in large part to their efforts. John, you have my deep condolences.

To everyone who knew and loved her, Jackie was a brilliant, caring person who wanted the town of Chelsea to be a place where history mattered as much as anything else. Without her and John, the place would be a lot different. I hope that her legacy will be to keep Chelsea the kind of place where both old-timers and newcomers can not only get along but actually accomplish things that matter. My deep condolences to John and the family who loved her.
