Mathew & Elizabeth Bergman Obituary

Memorial Services for siblings Matthew Ronald "Diggers" Bergman and Elizabeth Christina "Sissy" Bergman will be held on March 10, 2012. One Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at Wooster High Gymnasium in Reno, Nev., and the other will be also at 2 p.m. at the Lincoln Community Center in Lincoln, Calif. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 11, 2011 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Chapel of the Angels Mortuary, 250 Race Street, Grass Valley, Calif. Private family Graveside Services will be held.
Matthew and Elizabeth passed away in Reno, Nev., on March 3, 2012. Matthew was 16 and Elizabeth was 12.
Matthew was born on June 4, 1995 in Grass Valley and Elizabeth was born on June 17, 1999, parents Ronald Anthony Bergman and Christina Violet Wassef.
Matthew was a Junior at Wooster High School in Reno, Nev., who enjoyed playing practical jokes and hanging out with his friends and cousins. Elizabeth was a 7th grader at Vaughn Middle School who enjoyed playing softball, camping, drawing, batting, riding dirt bikes and smiling. They both shared a special love for playing basketball and video games.
As Matthew was fiercely protective of those he loved when he was among us, he will remain so from above. He sought assurance in his life and we are very proud of him. I do not believe he knew there was a halo above his head, but all of us who knew him did. Sissy had a genuine sweetness and love about her, for she was truly an earth angel. She was carefree in her spirit. Sissy had an inner light that put the brightest star of stars to shame.
Because of the selfless donation of their organs, 8-10 lives will be saved and they will live on as heroes.
Diggers and Sissy are survived by their mother, Christina Violet (Walleed) Wassef of Reno, Nev.; father, Ronald Anthony (Heidi) Bergman of Lincoln, Calif.; brothers, Brennan and Bryce; and sister, Brea Bergman; grandparents, Violet and Joseph Alves of Penn Valley, Calif., and Dan and Carolyn Harbert of Rough and Ready, Calif.; and many, many, many aunts, uncles, cousins and great-grandparents. They were preceded in death by their grandfather, Richard Arnold Cantway.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tri Counties Bank, 305 Neal St., Grass Valley, CA 95945 under Laura Cantway: Benefit of Matthew and Elizabeth Bergman, account number 21068259.
Arrangements are under the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary and Crematory, 250 Race Street, Grass Valley, CA 95945, 530-273-2446.

“May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
And the rain fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

I would like to send my condolences to the family and friends of Mathew and Elizabeth. I don't personaly know the two or the family. As one parent to another I can not say I know the pain of your loss but due to the care and love a parent with the choice of saving many lives my baby girl was one of them.

I received news today from the donor network. I would like to share with all of you the lives Elizabeth Bergman and Matt Bergman saved.

My beautiful princess saved five lives. A 74 year old woman received one of her kidneys, A 43 year old woman, married with a child, received a kidney and pancreas. Her liver saved 2 lives, a 52 year old man, married with 2 children, and a 9 month old baby boy. Elizabeth's heart saved the life of a 49 year old woman with a son.

My dearest Matthew saved the life of a 15 year old boy with his kidney. His other kidney and pancreas saved a 44 year old woman, married with two children. Matthew's liver also saved the life of two people, a 3 year old little girl and 54 year old married man....And to my amazement, my son's heart went to a 34 year old mother from Sacramento with 5 children ages 5 to 13.

Some of you may know that I am expecting my 5th child, and that I am from the Sacramento area and the same age....

I love you Elizabeth and Matthew...you are both my heros and you saved the lives of many and the hearts of thousands....<3 <3 <3

Ron,
It's Beany. Mareli just told me tonight at work....I am so, so sorry! I am speechless and heartbroken for you, and Matt and Elizabeth's loved ones. It was a pleasure to watch what a loving father you were while living at the Driftwood. What an amazing and brave way you have honored their short lives by the organ donations. Be assured that many prayers are being lifted up to you and your family at this most difficult time.
