I remember A man that Changed"My" life. That man was"Grandpa"! He taught me new things all the time.Grandpa always showed me what was right and what was wrong. He would always till jokes and made all the kids laugh. The day my brother told me he died"I cried".But then I said to myself God gave me an opportunity to meet Grandma and Grandpa and now God wants me to show him what Grandpa taught me.Sometimes when I go out or even when I go to school, people ask me if I want to buy drugs or if I want to get in a gang and when I respond I could hear my Grandpa telling me not to do it.
One day when I went to sleep I asked God to let me see Grandpa again and later that day I woke up and saw a really bright light on this cross I have in my room and I knew it was a sign of my Grandpa telling me he is "OK". Even though people say he is dead,to me he is alive and he will always be in "MY" heart.

In loving memory of our dear neighbor Mr. Eugene Leggitt. I live across the street from Eugene. He lived there when I moved to this neighborhood. He was the first person to introduce himself and welcomed Carlos and I to the neighborhood. He was always ready to help. So kind, loving & caring. He always watched the kids going to school. Making sure nothing happened to them. I still imagine him sitting on the bench. Also, he came and gave Carlos bulbs for a planter. I still have them. They are always blooming. So pretty pink flowers. That was in 1995. When we moved here. We loved Eugene and still his wife Joann. They were so special. We miss him alot. May he rest in peace in heaven with the Lord. That was what he wanted. He talked about it all the time. There are many other lovely stories. He talked about. He will be dearly missed. We loved our dear neighbors. Eugene, and wife Joann. We miss Eugene.
God Bless !

Gene was the best father I've ever known. His kindness and compassion has shown me that love and forgiveness, far out weigh anger and hate. Gene showed me(through example) what kind of man I wanted to be. Thanks, Gene. Love you, Clay

I am sorry to learn that we lost a friend. I have known Eugene since he was 16 years old. The last 7 years we have talked much over the telephone.
In the late 1950's Eugene and I spent several day's in Crown King area, what a time we had. One time I drove across a creek in a rain storm came and we had to walk out and hich hike home. The next day I went back to get the car. It was alot of fun being out in the wilderness with a friend.
The wonderful part of his life is that he gave his heart to the Lord.
We have prayed together many times and I know he trusted the Lord to lead his life.
We do not always understand the "why," we just have to trust in Him. Someday we will understand it all.
My prayer is that the Lord will comfort your heart and bring peace to the family. We know that he cares and loves us and will hold us in his hand. I Peter 5:7
I am sorry that I can not be there to give him honor, for Eugene was a good man with a heart as big as the moon.
Job 19:25 "For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth."

Making everyone around you feel important. Whether they were children or adults.Grandpa was a very special name for you.Someone who cared. On your only day off you would go check on that very special little person. Because you cared. There will be a hole in our hearts forever without you. We love you so.

My Uncle Gene was one of the kindest men I have ever known. He always made me feel so special. I was able to spend more time with him in the last couple of years. I loved him so. I never heard him speak one ill word about anyone. His faith was so strong. I really admired him. I will miss him so, so, much!

I too have known Gene since 1966. We have worked together in various capacities in the trucking industry. Gene was alot of things, a very good truck driver, always thought of others and will be missed by all.
Gene really isn't gone, he is just on
another trip, and I for one will be looking forward to hearing his story about it when I see him again.
Your freind,

I am sorry to see Gene pass, but that is something we all must do. I have known Gene since he got out of the service and started working out of the union hall. Close to fifty years. Even in retirement Gene always kept in touch. There were very few truckers like him. God speed, Gene. Your friend, Logan

My deepest condolences to the family in their loss of such a dear loved one. Gene always had a "smile" in his voice, a grin on his face, & laughter in his heart. How Gene loved his dog, Snoopy, & bragged about how Snoopy took care of him. Gene was quick to talk about the Lord & I know Gene is with Him today. May Gene's memory remain alive through those who loved him & knew him best. Gene was a true blessing to the universe & a witness for the Lord. GOD greatly blessed ALL who knew this gentle, loving spirit. Kindest regards, Jacque Edgmon

For my friend, Gene - We traveled many miles together over the years, you & I, hauling & moving freight & stopping at the old truck stops for coffee. I remember those days with great fondness & loving memories. We shared many a laugh together over the years, & you were always quick to remind me of late that we were one of the vanishing breed of "old" Teamsters. May your road be easier & your load be lighter as you travel on ahead. Your friend always, Jim Edgmon, Alabam Frieght Lines, PMT, & Time-DC, Teamsters Local 104
