Daniel Duque Abuyen December 27, 1975 - July 9, 2012 Daniel Duque Abuyen passed away on Monday July 9, 2012 in Bakersfield, California. He was born to Ignacio Parone Abuyen, Jr. and Aida Duque Abuyen on December 27, 1975. Although having been born in West Berlin, Germany, Daniel spent much of his early childhood in Ilocus Sur, Philippines. At the age of seven, he and his parents moved to Bakersfield and has called California home ever since. Daniel graduated from Highland High School in 1995. Not long after graduation, he moved to San Jose, California where he began working in welding and the hotel industry. While he loved living in the bay area, Daniel moved back to Bakersfield to be closer to his parents and brother, Adonis Duque Abuyen. It wasn't long after that move when he began his tenure with Kern Radiology Medical Group. A 'jack-of-all-trades', Daniel excelled at art, mechanics, cooking, and building meaningful friendships. He was the handyman who enjoyed reading about cars and trying new barbecue recipes. His best travel memories always involved trying some great restaurant. Daniel always lived life to the fullest, had an insatiable curiosity about the world, and always made it a point to help every friend in need. Daniel was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ignacio Sr. and Eugenia Abuyen and uncles, Basilio Abuyen and Teddy Duque. He is survived by his maternal grandparents, Alejandro and Lolita Duque; the parents he loved so dearly, Ignacio Jr. and Aida; brother Adonis; his paternal aunts/uncles Estrella, Albert, Virgilio, Tessie; his maternal aunts/uncles Gregg and Mia; their spouses; many cousins and 2nd cousins; and his dear friends who he loved like family. A Wake/Rosary will occur on Sunday July 15th at 4:00pm at Greenlawn Cemetery Chapel (3700 River Blvd). A Funeral Mass will occur on Monday July 16th at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Parish (900 H St.). www.bakersfield.com/obits
