Kathleen Casey

Kathleen Ann Casey, nee Jalageas, 63, of O'Fallon, Ill., born Feb. 19, 1947, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at her home.

Kathy was born and raised in East St. Louis, graduating from Academy of Notre Dame in Belleville in 1965. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from SIU Edwardsville. She began her career in education in O'Fallon District 90 in 1969, working as a speech and language pathologist until her retirement in 2008. She was a faithful Catholic, attending Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fairview Heights. She was a Cardinals baseball fan, quick to quote their stats. She enjoyed traveling and shopping and was a loyal friend to many and a devoted wife to Don.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Marie, nee Harrington, Jalageas; and her stepson, Scott Casey.

Surviving are her husband Don Casey of O'Fallon, whom she married on Aug. 6, 1982, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.; her stepdaughter, Jill (Mike) O'Neal of Luther, Okla.; her step-grandsons, Casey O'Neal, and Christopher and Alex Casey; her brother, David Jalageas of Belleville, Ill.; and many dear friends.

Memorial donations in honor of Kathy may be made to American Cancer Society or BJC Hospice. Condolences may be extended to the family by visiting www.wfh-ofallon.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at the funeral home with Rev. Raymond C. Schultz, V.F., officiating.

Don, Sorry to hear about this. Although I only met Kathleen a few times back during our IG days, she made a great impression on me as a really nice lady. I wish you and your family the very best.

So very sorry to learn of you great loss. Kathleen and I would have had something in common. I am a Speech-Language Pathologist too. Bet I would have liked her. May lovely memories help you through now and in the future.

Kathy and I knew each other from the Academy. She was one of the friendliest people I ever knew. When I came to her school to do programs, she always sought me out to say "Hi!". She will be missed by her fellow classmates and me.
