Mom,
This will be my second mother's day without you, but I want you to know that I carry your memory in my heart. You are a vital part of life and you will live forever in my heart. I am a mother now. I have a beautiful dog named Sissy and mom she really does love me unconditionally. I must admit that I spoil her quite a bit. I miss and love you so much. Here's wishing you a happy Mother's Day in heaven with all your loved ones who have gone before and after you.
Love,
Becky

It's been a year since you left us and the pain and emptiness is the same, I've never known a pain like this before and I don't know how to cope. I miss you dearly and wish I could change back the time to when life was simpler and this feeling of emptiness did not exist. I miss you so much Grandma I would trade my life for just one more day with you... Loving you eternally...

My deepest condolenses to my Tio Roberto and family. I have so many good memories of my Tia Rosie. When I remember my Tia, I remember her with a smile on her face and a great big laugh that came deep from the heart.
I know that my father is with her and so is her father and mother. She must feel so good to be in their arms.

Dear Tio Roberto and cousins, I am very sorry for the loss of Tia Rosie and I am confident that she now sits in the hands of the Almighty. Aunt Rosie will always be the picture of love and happiness in my mind's eye, and I loved her very much. Although we have not seen one another often since my Grandma Rosie (Pena Cisneros) passed away many years ago, Tia Rosie, Tio Roberto and all my cousins will always hold a very special place in my heart. It was many years ago that my father, Loreto Genaro Pena (Nayo) would take us to Brownsville to see our family, and those visits and the love we shared with the Perales Pena, and with all our families will live in my heart forever.
I am Genaro J. Pena (Jerry) and I ask the Lord to keep Tia Rosie always, and to bless Tio Roberto and all my tios and primos.
The way I remember our Grandmother...Love Vero

I'm the daughter of Tía Rosie's youngest brother Gilberto Peña. Deepest condolences to all the family. I'm sorry to say that the last time I saw my tía was more than five years ago. But I will always remember her sweet smile. I also just want to say that, with her passing, something we are left to reflect on—and be grateful for!—is our big, beautiful family. The connection is something special that cannot be measured by numbers. Some of us are cousins—second, third—who may never meet, but we don't have to. We are family. Thank you for this, Tío Roberto and Tía Rosie.

Dear family and friends,
How hard it has been these past few days. The thought of my beloved grandmother’s passing still brings tears to our eyes, and the heartache seems unbearable at times. But as we struggle to cope with our loss, we must remember why it still hurts so much. She was a remarkable woman who showered us all with an unconditional love that is often taken for granted. And I’ve asked myself, what did I ever do to deserve having her in my life? All of us should feel very fortunate that we got to know and love Rosa Maria Pena Perales. She was a truly magnificent person. To be loved by someone like my grandmother was a rare gift that few will ever experience. And that’s why it still hurts. We’ve lost something beautiful that can never be replaced or replicated.
My grandmother once said to me, “I know that at one time I’m going to have to go . . . and it’s going to be nice.” She always spoke directly and honestly. And I’ll always cherish her memory. To my mother Virginia, aunts, uncles, and cousins, I wish each and every one of you the very best. Our lives will never be the same. However, we owe it to my grandmother to live life with integrity, to be generous and kind to the less fortunate, to be hard working members of society, and to be proud of our South Texas roots. As my aunt Becky said, “her legacy and love lives on in each of us.” We should be thankful that she gave us so much love and left us such wonderful memories. We will never forget you, Grandma Rosie.

My dear cousins,
I was very sorry to hear of prima Rosa Maria's passing.
I cherish the memory of getting to talk to her briefly, when I was in Brownsville last year for the funeral of my brother-in-law Gonzalo Garcia.
My heart and thoughts go out to you all,
With love, from
Your cousin,

We've been blessed to know a mother's love and her sweet touch.
We have been blessed to know a mother's firm hand and loving advice. We have been blessed to rejoice in her wonderful life and to have been part of such a great woman because her legacy and love lives on in each of us. Thank you mother for your dedication, discipline, and love. Thank you to the best friend I'll ever have.

For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

A poem for our dearly beloved Aunt Rosie,
Going To My Heavenly Home
I took JESUS by the hand
And he is leading me to the promise land
He took all my sorrows, all my fears
And he has dried all my tears
I am happy just to know
I am seeing JESUS all aglow
In his greatness I fully see
All the miracles he has done for me
What great joy I am feeling
As before my Holy King I am kneeling
