Mr. Mancini was a great teacher. I had the privilege of having him for 2 years at Simon Fraser Jr High. He helped me to excel in math during the math club. He gave me a lot of pointers in other area of school and life too. He will be missed.

Ernie will never be forgotten ,always something that reminds us of Ernie, either to do with his great talent in cooking, what his thoughts would be on different subjects, or his sense of humour. He was a great Father that everyone would wish for, and a wonderful husband to cousin Audrey. He is always missed. Thinking of you and the boys now Audrey......

Dear Audrey and family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Ernie. He was a very special, kind, and amazing man. I taught with Ernie for seven years at Simon Fraser during the 1990's. I remember his humorous comments, easy-going nature, and the kindness, concern, and empathy that he always showed toward his students and colleagues. He was very well-like by everyone and always happy to help others. Whenever Ernie spoke about his family his whole face lit up with happiness and pride in their accomplishments. He left an impression of how very much he loved his family. Love and prayers to you all.

So very sad that Ernie left us so soon. He was so brave and such a special man. We can recall how often he teased "Nana C" years back and was the only member of the family that got away with it! A wonderful husband and loving father and grandfather. We will cherish the wonderful memories he has left us all.

Dear Ernie, I know you were watching the celebration of your life we had today; but I wish you could also have felt the love and warmth which permeated the entire Church. Even the priest was amazed as more and more people stood up to pay tribute. The celebration Audrey and the boys organized for you was one of the best I have ever seen. If she had allowed everyone to speak that wanted to share Ernie stories, the service would have gone on for hours. I fulfilled the promise I made to you last year and made your friends laugh, now you must fulfill your promise and prepare a place for me where we can eat and get thinner by the mouthful. Get some much needed rest up there in heaven and start collecting some cans and boxes for the two of us to fill. I miss you my friend. JBMartin

Ernie was blessed with an amazing gift. He was armed with a very quick wit and was in possession of a great sense of humor. He also had an endless repertoire of humorous stories and jokes. He had the capability to see the humor in just about anything or any event. When matched up with someone with a similar inclination it was like watching atom splitting on a grand scale. Invariably a chain reaction would get started that would soon consume and engross all that were within earshot.
I, for one, was witness to such events on many an occasion and have to admit to have found great pleasure in partaking of the feeding of fuel to his madcap mayhem. Those of us who survived these events can attest to the side effects associated, such as the sore sides, the tears to the eyes and the general fatigue that comes from laughing until it hurt.
And yet, I can barely recall any of the details of the stories or jokes or even what it was that had us all in stitches but somehow he had the power to bring it all alive and to keep us all off balance and on edge, wondering what next would be ushered forth.
In all of my travels I have met few people who possessed the talents the likes of which Ernie had. I am very saddened by his passing, but I am also happy to have known him and that, in some small way, we were part of each other's lives.

Dear Audrey and family,
My sincerest sympathy on the passing of a beloved husband and father. Ernie was just so many different things to so many different people...the list is endless. I am fortunate to have known Ernie since our high school days and even back then the word was " don't wooorrry, Mancini will get it done ". Our paths crossed again a few years later at good old "St Joe's" Teachers' College where the warning to all freshmen was,"if you are writing an exam in the gym, watch out for any falling debris." Yes, those were the good old days with "big brother" watching out for us all. But our journey was not to end there and our lives intersected (math term, just for you pal} for a third time at LCCHS. I have to say that sharing those years in our tiny little workroom were the best.I can still see Ernie's pale blue shorty lab jacket hanging on the coat rack and if you were ever desperate for a piece of chalk, which seemed to be rationed in those days, you just had to reach into Ernie's jacket pocket. He always had a stash somewhere and was always willing to share. What a team we had going at LCCHS and he was an integral part.
Oh and let me not forget as president of the "Daiquiri of the Month Club", to thank you for the most amazing peach daiquiri" I've ever had. God willing, our paths will cross a fourth time and I hope you'll have one of them chilled and ready to go.
Ciao Ernesto! You will always be in my heart.

Audrey, Derek and Andrew:
I am so sorry and so sad to hear Ernie has gone. I have such wonderful happy memories. It was so fun to have a neighbor like Ernie. From age 8 all the way to adulthood. I could always be rest asured that no matter what I broke in our house, or needed something assembled, and was missing a piece, Ernie always had the missing part we needed in his garage. I loved the parties our families had together, espically at New Years. Ernie was such a huge part of my childhood and I will always remember him with a smile. I will miss him dearly.

Dear family of Ernie, who will always be Mr. Mancini in my memories, my condolences. I remember the day that students and their teachers were to choose their 'Homeroom Names', and in our class no one had a single suggestion to offer. We were henceforth known that year as 'Mancini's Silent Majority'. To be honest I remember there were a few quiet murmurs of suggested names from the back of the class, but I think Mr. Mancini had gotten attached to this clever political title (which I'm sure none of us understood at the time).
May he rest in peace!

Audrey,Derek and Andrew,
What can I say that hasnt been said already. Ernie was one of a kind. I can still see him roaming the streets of Montreal near St. Mary's Hospital the day you were born, Derek. If Bruce and I hadn't been up there we may never have found him....talk about being a proud papa.
Will always think of Ernie when I carve a turkey, because if he hadnt been there to do it when we first moved to Calgary, no one would have eaten.
It is hard to summarize almost 40 years of friendship, but there will always be something to remind us of Ernie....
Take care Aud,
love ya

Dear Audrey, Derek, Shauna,& Andrew,
How very sad that Ernie has passed on way too soon. Anyone who has known him has an "Ernie" story. As a student in biology class at St. Joseph Teacher's College, he was in great demand by many of the females who needed his assistance in making the first cut to the fetal pig specimen. With a endearing grumble and grin, Ernie was always there for those who needed him. That's what he was all about. It was a privilege and a blessing to have worked with him. Our hearts go out to each of you at this very sad time, but be comforted by all the fond memories of this unique, wonderful man.

Thanks for the memories, Ernie and know how much he will be missed.

Dear Audrey & family,
Ernie was one in a million, how he made us all laugh! I remember vividly your beautiful wedding, you had such a special marriage. I remember him cooking Christmas dinner at Nana's, cracking jokes in the kitchen. He made every party more fun! The way Ernie dealt with his health issues was an inspiration to us all. He is gone too soon, but what beautiful memories he left us all with. Rest in Peace, Ernie, you will never be forgotten.

Oh how I remember Ernie...our beloved "pencil" at our staff hockey games focusing in on the action and eery goal to ensure that every goal and every assist was credited to the worthy recipient. And of course he would meticulously post the updates in the lounge at LCCHS. Reading remarks, here from people far removed in time and distance from Ernie is a testament to Ernie's places in our hearts. he was as loveable a man as you could find. Where there was fun to be had Ernie was there. He never let you leave without a smile on your face.To Audrey and the entire extended family my deepest sympathies. Now St Peter has "Pencil" next to him at the "Pearly Gates" to go over the stats and our stats had better be good.Knowing Ernie he'd slip in a good word for us.Gone but foever remembered. I'm so sorry to hear of Ernie's passing. He taught me Grade 9 Math at Simon Fraser in '94-'95. In what was a very difficult year for me, Mr. Mancini could always put a smile on my face with his entertaining teaching style: 'You multiply this little idiot here by that little idiot there.' Thanks to Ernie's expert tutelage, this formerly math-challenged student managed to get one of the 5 highest Pascal math competition scores in the city. Rest in peace, Ernie; your students remember you fondly. Audrey and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
