HENRY ROMANZO Obituary

Henry J. Romanzo, 86, of Clifton Park, died peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2011. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Sam and Antonia Romanzo. A graduate and valedictorian of the former St. John's Academy, he was an Army veteran of WWII and a civilian employee of the Army Material Command with 33 years of Federal service. He received many commendations for improvements and innovative changes that resulted in increased quality and cost improvements. In 1977, he retired from Tobyhanna (PA) Army Depot and began a second career for the next 11 years as service manager for L.B. Smith in Albany. An avid golfer and distinguished bowler, he achieved a 299 and a perfect 300 games during the last decade. At the time of his death, he was a league member at Sunset Lanes and Del Lanes. He is the beloved husband of the late Rita Wolf Romanzo; proud father of Samuel, Christopher, and Maria and their spouses Nancy, Patricia, and Jerome. He is the cherished grandfather of Luke, Mark, Adriana, and Massimo. He is the brother of John, Frances, and the late Natale, Rose, Augusta, Edward, and Samuel. He is also survived by beloved brother-in-law, William; sisters-in-law, Margaret and Virginia; many loved nieces and nephews, and loyal friend, Marion. Passionate about many causes, Henry lived each day to the fullest and returned to God with no regrets. His family requests that we similarly celebrate the precious gift of life and continue to be energized by his indomitable spirit. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Blessed Sacrament Church at 9 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. To leave a special message for the family online, visit www.NewcomerAlbany.com

Dear Sam and family,
Thank you for calling us about the passing of your father. Sorry we couldn't attend your father's services as we received unexpected company at our house after you called. I read the obituary for your father on-line and thought it was a very nice tribute to him. I'm recalling how your Aunt Frances had me over for dinner at her house when I was attending Siena College. Please send her and your entire family my condolences and best wishes at this difficult time.

I'm sorry to all the family on the death of Uncle Henry. He will be remembered and honored. He truley loved each and everyone of us with all his heart. We are sorry we cannot make the trip out for the funeral, but health issues prohibit Bob from making the trip out. We hope to see you all soon, and you are in our prayers....Love, Robert and Dawn Romanzo

I am so sorry to hear of Hank's passing. He was a wonderful friend to my parents. I remember Thursday nights before bowling I would join my parents and Hank for dinner at Caveleri's. He was a very nice man. May he rest in peace.
