To the Luna family ...
I have to share with you a delightful learning experience with you that I had at Luna´s restaurant on the Lufkin highway.
My whole family ate there frequently. The first time was shortly after it opened. I ordered nachos. When they were set on our table, I saw very bright green pepper slices on top. I asked what they were ... I had never seen fresh jalapeños before. I was told they were freshly picked jalapeños.
I had only seen those coming out of a can and did not know any better.
Just before we left, Mr. Luna come to our table and gave me two fresh whole peppers to take home.
What a gracious gesture that was. I think of ya´ll often.
Sincerely

LEIGHANN,JAMES, AND FAMILY, I DON'T HAVE THE WORDS TO SAY TO MAKE THE PAIN GO AWAY. I WISH I COULD MAKE YOU JUST WAKE UP FROM THIS BAD DREAM. THE FEW TIMES I HAD THE PLEASURE OF BEING AROUND PAWPAW LUNA, HE MADE ME LAUGH. HE WAS FULL OF LIFE AND HE LIVED IT WELL. JUST KNOW THAT I AM HERE FOR YOU. ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT NO ONE CAN TAKE YOUR MEMORIES.

Teresa,
Your family's Mexican restaurant on HWY 59 was the first experience I had of Nacogdoches when my family moved there in 1969. It was great. We only ate there a few times but to this day it was the best Mexican food I've ever had. Your dad always came to our table with a pleasant greeting. He was an excellent host and gentleman. My condolences and prayers to you and your family.

No words from me can assuage your loss. I just hope that you can take some comfort in me saying, to the family, that the end of a long and honorable life creates much grief for the family - but, In time - this grief is replaced by the most precious memories. Look forward to them. I have many tender memories of the entire Luna family. Please accept my sincere condolences and especially for my friend Kevin.

To the family,
I haven't seen or talked with El very often in the last few years, but as a teenager I spent many hours with him picking and singing. We also played as a loosly put together band for many dances/parties in the community as well as at the Moral Hall. Those are memories I will have forever. El was a fine gentleman with a beautiful silky-smooth "Ray Price" voice. It is unfortunate that that voice could not have been shared by a larger audience.
I won't be able to attend the Mass and services but please accept my condolences and regards.
