My heart goes out to the family and friends of Jesse Huff. I am a veteran who returned from Iraq with PTSD, and wake up every day wondering why. I can relate to the distress that this young man must have felt, because I also lost my mother after returning home. I wish that I still lived in the area, as I might have had an opportunity to meet Jesse at the VA, and possibly made a connection with him that could have prevented this tragedy. May God Bless you and your family Jesse. Sometimes coming home doesn't mean the war is over.

Jesse, You have come to live forever in my heart. Thoughts remain of what might have been and the potential lost. You talked about having happy dreams of your mother and the comfort they bring. Now I understand.

When I heard about what had happened to your brave loved one, it absolutely broke my heart. Know so many people in this country are truly so very sad, and are keeping you in our hearts and prayers. There are not enough words to express how very devastated that one of our beloved soldiers felt so devastated by whatever he experienced, and happened to him that resulted in this tragic loss. God WILL watch over him now. He knows what he has gone thru, and will give him everlasting peace. I know that what happened to your son, brother friend will stay with me forever. God Bless you and help you thru this very tragic loss. May his memory be eternal

To: The Huff Family,
I did not know this young man. But you should be proud of his convictions and will to serve our country voluntarily. I could never have done what he has, as many others could not, but I reap the benefits of living in the greatest country in the world due to him and others like him. It certainly takes a special person to commit to such a great responsibility. My condolences and prayers are with you.

I can honestly say I know what you are going through. My son was 26 and did the exact same thing upon his return from Iraq. That was 2 1/2 yrs ago, his medication was to be mailed (but it arrived 2 days to late). I can tell you, the pain will never go away but it will get easier (like he is still out there somewhere) Our boy's brains get scarred from war and nothing can make them go away. The NY Times even did a story on my son & it made the front page ( Jacob Blaylock ).I really thought it would do some good but I guess I was wrong. I know the pain you are going through and my prayers are with you!!

April 19, 2010

To the family of Jesse this is an attempt to offer some words of comfort although I understand your pain and realize that is almost impossible at a time like this. After losing my Father, Mother and Husband within a year....I understand your sorrow. As a attempted suicide survivor I would like to assure you that this young man knew he was loved by many, that it was not his intention to cause others so much pain. I can honestly tell you he hurt so bad (both physically and mentally)that he did not want to hurt another day and seen this as a way to stop the hurting he was dealing with. It breaks my heart that he suffered so. America can provide for so many but fail considerably when it comes to taking care of our veterans. To Jesse and all soldiers, past and present who assure our safety and freedom, I Thank You! Never under estimate your selfworth. God Bless Jesse and his family and give them the strength they will need in the days ahead.

Words honestly cant explain the way it makes me feel that you went on home. I'd be lying if I said I never thought of doing it myself. I never knew you to be a problem at bravo company. The times I remember seeing you, you seemed to be fine. Quiet but fine and Definitely squared away, I never heard anything negative about you. And with us being in the same company I definitely would of heard something. All of our lives changed over there, life as we know it will never be the same here on earth. If there is anyone who knows our struggle, who knows are pain, who knows the hardship we've faced in our transition back to Civilian life its the Lord Our God. And I strongly believe he will have mercy on us and that right now here today you are sitting in paradise with him my brother. I will not give up in this fight that's one thing I will promise you brother. I will let the world know our struggle. I will shine light on every situation. To make sure that you and several others didn't die in vein.

THE FINAL INSPECTION
Submitted by: mattoxnicole
Author: Unknown
The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my Church have you been true?"

The soldier squared his soldiers and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills just got too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.

"Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

Rest in Peace My Brother in Arms

There is an old saying soldiers, we never die, just fade away. Jesse your message has been heard by many and understood by us who still go through what you no longer have to endure. The Native American's have the White Buffalo who roams the heaven, I ask that the White Buffalo spirit walk with you as he has with brother soldiers before you. Rest my warrior friend and my the peace of the Great Father Spirit continue to watch over your family. Peace be with your spirit and your message that has been heard around the world. Greywolf

There are not words to describe how sad I am right now. All I want to do is hug Jesse right now. Jesse was such a great soul and I wish that everyone could know that and the ones who know that will never forget that. I will never forget how Jesse would put his head down like a little kid when he would get embarrassed (that happend alot) it was so cute. I am so greatful that I was blessed to know Jesse. Thank you Jesse for fighting for our freedom and thank you for blessing me with knowing you. You will be greatly missed
