James Laverty Obituary

James M. Laverty, 64 Letter Carrier in Darby James M. Laverty, 64, of Folsom, died May 11, 2011 at his home. Born in Philadelphia, he lived in Sharon Hill prior to moving to Folsom 8 years ago. He was a Letter Carrier at the Darby Post Office for 23 years retiring in March of 2009 and was previously employed by Westinghouse Corp. for 18 years. He was a graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1964. Mr. Laverty was a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church and also a youth football and baseball coach. He was devoted to his wife, children and especially his grandchildren. He was son of the late Joseph Laverty and Thelma Sullivan Laverty and brother of the late Joe and Gloria Laverty. Survivors: Wife of 38 years Linda Suydam Laverty; children Kevin Laverty (Linda) of Springfield and Maureen Laverty of Folsom; brother Tom Laverty (Diane) of Folsom; sister Mary Ann Sweeney (John) of NH; grandchildren Jack Laverty and Katelyn Laverty; also many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass 10 AM Saturday at Notre Dame de Lourdes R.C. Church, 1000 Fairview Rd., Swarthmore. Visitation: 7 to 9 PM Friday and 8:15 to 9:15 AM Saturday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park. Burial: Glenwood Memorial Gardens. Mass Cards or memorial gifts to The American Cancer Society or Vitas Hospice would be appreciated.
