I still miss making music with Ron, I considered him one of the top Jazz drummers in our area. Ron is on 3 of my CD´s and sounds marvelous. He was also a kind and wonderful human being and always fun to be around (had a great sense of humor as well).

Here in the cornfields of Illinois, with whom shall I now share our love of Bill Evans. I guess that will still have to be Ron.
Pat, I am so sorry for your loss. Please take care of yourself.

I didn't know Ron personally, but we were Union brothers at Local 20 ... I've heard many positive comments about his musical techniques.
I was mainly Billy Wilson's bass guitarist at the Tally Ho; otherwise I'm sure we would've met one day. My sincer condolences to his wife and family ... TEd Ashinhurst ...

All of the kind words that have been said about Ron have never been so deserved by anyone. He was truly a gentle soul who shared his gentle spirit with all. We will miss him and be thinking of Pat and her great loss.

After hearing of Ron's passing, I pulled out six cassettes that Ron recorded of our week with Marian McPartland at Ray Iverson's Senate Lounge in 1970. Ron sounds great on that stuff. Also. like Joe Lopez's statement about Ron taking the time to burn CD's of artists he thought deserved recognition: He turned me on to the great Italian pianist, Stefano Bollani, by sending me a total of 30 discs of Stefano's over a period of three months. The turn out at the service was amazing, but not unexpected.

Ron was a great drummer and an even greater human being. I loved playing with Ron, he is on two of my CD's and we played several jazz festivals, concerts and club dates together. Ron was a true gentleman of wit and always brought a grin to any conversation. He will be missed, often remembered and always loved.

Whenever I saw Ron at some job he was playing he always said "Thanks for coming". I always responded "Thanks for being". This always brought forth a little smile. Myself and many,many others will continue to say;
"Thanks for being, Ron"

I played one of my first gigs with Ron when I was just 15, My dad drove me to the "Sundown Lounge" on West Colfax..We played with the "John Brewer quintet"..Then worked with Ron & Les James for years, and also backed Franki Reno with Ron......We had a lot of great times! Ron was one of the "Good Guys". So talented...Loved his writting. He wrote from his heart, just like he played! He was so thoughtful, out of no where he would send a tape or CD of some artist he thought you would like! So Sad..Ron was a complete humanitarian! We will miss him dearly. Love to Pat!!

I stayed at Ron's cabin in Bailey for a few months while rehearsing with Gary Deary's band in 1981. He was a wonderful drummer, a quick wit, and I'll miss him terribly.

Hello, My brother Ron Brinkman graduated from Emmaus Lutheran school with your husband/father. There were two Rons in a class of 14 students. My brother passed away in 2008 from pancreatic cancer. He also had one son, Brian. Just this week my sister-in-law sent me some of my brothers items from school. Among them was a 9th grade graduation program. I believe the two Rons were school friends. Please accept my condolences - I am sorry for you loss. Kathy Brinkman Wannamaker
