Ronald Dick Obituary

Ronald Keith Dick, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010. Graveside service: Private in Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorial service: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Hills Church of Christ, formerly known as Richland Hills Church of Christ, 6300 N.E. Loop 820, North Richland Hills. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Ronald was born April 27, 1930, in Bessie, Okla., to Sam and Mabel Dick. He moved to Fort Worth when he was 6. Ronald always proudly said he "drew four queens." He was a well-known home designer for over 50 years, winning many awards for his designs. Ronald loved the Lord with all his heart. One of his proudest achievements was serving as an elder at Meadowbrook Church of Christ and later as a deacon at Richland Hills Church of Christ, working with the Senior Ministry for over 20 years. Ronald was deeply loved by his family and many friends. He had a gentle spirit and a loving heart, and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; sister, Dorothy Mullins; and precious grandson, Kevin Wood. Just a word before the guest book goes off line...and that is to thank you for your friendship with my special friends, Bert and Clemmie Gray. They loved the Dicks dearly. Neither of them is in good health, and soon we all will join Ron on the other side in heaven by the grace of the Father and the Son.

Happy birthday, Daddy!
I bet Heaven knows how to make it really special! You sure are missed here on earth. I'm trying to be brave and keep my promises but it is harder than I thought, Daddy. I am trying, though. I let days go by without sketching a little something. I will work on that! I am still trying to be a good wife, mother, daughter and sister. I mess up sometimes, but you probably knew I would! You would still tell me you're proud of me, though, wouldn't you? You would mean it, too.
I have to be real brave today for Mama! I know you already do every day but kiss Kevin for me!

I love you, Daddy!

Mr. Dick will always hold a special place in my heart, for he was a sweet man who adored his family. I remember many times being at the house on Silverleaf when he was in his devotional room, listening to tapes and reading his Bible. He personified what a man of faith should be, and while the family grieves his loss, the Lord rejoices that Mr. Dick has come home. Peace be with you all knowing in Our Father's house are many mansions...

Dear Mary, how our hearts went out to you when I picked up the paper this morning and read of your loss. We extend our deepest sympathy to you and your family. We met Ron about 35 years ago when he designed and drew the plans for our new home. We always enjoyed working with him. And then in the past few years we have always enjoyed our times together at the Kimbell and Carter. Our lives have been enriched because we knew you and Ron. We trust that the great memories that you and the family have of him will give you comfort in the days ahead. And your pride in his achievements will encourage you to go forward as he would have wanted you to do. With sincere sympathy and prayers for your comfort, Morris and Kathryn Matson

My Sweet Daddy,

Thank you for all that you taught me, especially for teaching me to love God and knowing how to reach him through Jesus.

Daddy, you always made me feel special even when I didn't.

I promise to love, respect, and take care of Mama.

I will be a good wife and good mother.

I will try to take care of my sisters, stop apologizing for myself so much, stand up straight, smile more, and try to draw a little every day.

I will also think of you everyday, sometimes I will cry but I will try to smile through those tears.

You were the best man I've never known, and I am so proud to call you Daddy. Give Kevin a kiss for me everyday, okay?

I love you so very much,

Leslie

My thoughts and prayers are with his precious family. Leslie, I am remembering you especially at such a difficult season. I know this must be both a sorrowfull, yet sweet-tinged, situation.-- As Kevin will be re-united with his Grandpaw. One thing for sure, he is at rest. Most folks say "life is short...etc" , how we know the truth when having lost someone too soon... that is just not true. Nice to know your Daddy has heard the words "Well done, my good and faithful servant".
I love you with all of my heart.
