Douglas Gerrish

Douglas Haig Gerrish Feb. 22, 1920 June 10, 2011 Doug passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Pasqua Hospital on June 10, 2011, aged 91 years. He was born in McTaggart, SK, and was employed by the CNR for 34 years, retiring at age 58. Doug and Vera Ronning were married in 1984. Predeceased by his parents; brothers Angelo, George and Ed; sisters Audrey, Evelyn, & Ruby; and stepson Kevin Mann. Doug is survived by loving wife Vera; daughters Shirley and Debbie; grandchildren; stepchildren Christine (Eldon) Mann, Paul (Cathy) Ronning, Carol (Walter) Mackin, & Cathy (David) Richards; grandchildren Chelsea & Roland, Dave & Teresa, Dean, Kelly, Trisha & Ryan, Michael, Marcelle & Matthew; and 9 great grandchildren. Doug loved to golf and was a member of Green Acres golf course for 20 years, getting a hole in one on the 4th hole in 1994. He was always known to crack a joke or tell a story during coffee visits. Doug also enjoyed cards, cribbage, Yahtzee, and potluck suppers. A Memorial Service luncheon will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011, in the Reception Center of Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Avenue East, Regina, Sk. He will be sadly missed.
