I was honored to receive Sgt. Pierre's ribbon tag at a Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery this year. I have been reading all I can about her since then and saying prayers for her each night. She sounds like such a remarkable young woman. I am truly grateful for her bravery and for her service to our country. I am so terribly sorry for your loss.

Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Linda L. Pierre US Army Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

To the Pierre Family,
As we continue to face tragedies such as this, may you all find a bit of solace in knowing that God through his Kingdom arrangement has the ability to undo all the sad events that have occurred.
Psalms 147:3 "He is healing the broken-hearted ones, and is binding up their painful spots."
You can feel that Death can leave a heartache that nothing can heal, just know that Love can leave a memory that no one can steal.

To the Pierre family,
I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Linda will never be forgotten.
For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you .
I Salute You.

I met Linda in 2005 when I moved to Florida. We were co-workers at Publix, but our relationship soon grew into an amazing friendship that I would have been lost without. Linda was such a beautiful person inside and out. Her faith in God and love of her country was that of a true American Hero. I looked up to her with such admiration and she never failed to surprise me with how inspiring of a person she was. I will forever miss my dear friend and all of the wonderful things she brought into my life. I know that she will always be with me and I look forward to the day when we are once again reunited. My dearest sympathies to her parents and siblings. Thank you for the wonderful gift of your daughter - she will truly be missed. I Love You, Linda...Rest in Peace, my Sweet Angel.

We sat next to one another on a plane and my family and friends sent her care packages to Afghanistan. I will miss her so very much and my thoughts are with you and yours as your grieve the loss of this very special woman. Thank you for giving us the gift of your daughter. God be with you...

Sharing the same birthday, somehow connected me to you in a way that I never thought possible. You were my sister and friend. We had some good times together in Germany and created lasting memories that I will cherish for the rest of my days. The boys will know who you were and what you meant to them. Your faith in God is what keeps me from being a complete basket case. I will be strong like you and your sacrifice will not be in vain because I will let everyone know who you were and what kind of person you were to everyone.
I will be praying for strength and courage for your family in the coming days, weeks, and months. May peace be with you all.

From and ex-soldier, to a departed soldier who paid the ultimate price:
Your life was not in vain. You meant and stood for something in this world. You mattered and still matter. Your memory lives on, your dedication still strong. You ARE loved. You ARE respected, and you will never be forgotten!
A road side bomb, a suicide bomber struck today.
The newscaster, was heard to say
The relatives, have been informed
Here's the weather, now performed
So matter of fact and nothing new
Another grieving friend and family joins the queue
It's just routine, now on the news
another valued soul we lose
What can be done to make them see?
That Linda meant so much to you and me
We all hold you near and dear
From times gone by, to this new year
Will this slaughter never end?
Why did we all have to lose a friend?
We pray and hope and silently reflect
And send to you dear, sweet Lind our deep respect (adopted from poem written by Killelay)

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to SGT. Linda L. Pierre our Sister in Arms. To her family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Linda. And to Linda it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank her for the ultimate sacrifice she made in Afghanistan while serving the U.S. Army and her country. No greater love is shown than a sister lay down her life for a comrade. Linda, you are a brave Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,307 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Linda’s family and loved ones.
