ROCK HILL - Mr. Charles "Chuck" William Fraser Spencer III, 64, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at the Candler Hospital in Metter, Ga. Prior to his recent illness, he was a lifelong resident of Rock Hill, S.C.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Westminster Presbyterian Chapel, with Dr. Shelton P. Sanford III officiating. Burial will be private.
Mr. Spencer was born Dec. 10, 1947, to the late Charles "Charlie" William Fraser Spencer and Elise "A" Fairley Spencer of Rock Hill. He graduated from Rock Hill High School and attended the University of South Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Back in his healthier days, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a huge Gamecock fan and reveled in the recent successes of the football and baseball teams.
He is survived by his sister, Lisa Spencer Lindsay and husband, Jay, of Columbia, S.C.; and his uncle, William C. "Bill" Spencer and wife, Ann, of Rock Hill. Chuck was dearly loved by his nephew, Spencer Crosland Lindsay and wife, Emily, of Columbia; his niece, Mary Catherine Finley and husband, Jason, of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; and his great-nephew, Spencer Crosland Lindsay Jr.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1320 India Hook Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel is assisting the Spencer family.

It is impressive to see all the friends Chuck had from Rock Hill. We missed him at the last reunion and have been trying to locate him. So sorry to hear he had been ill for a long time. Chuck and I went to WTS and RHHS together so many years ago. My prayers to Chuck and to his family and friends.

Went to grammar school and High School, with Chuck would come home to visit always seemed to run into Chuck out eating, he loved good southern home cooking.I would still call him Chuckie,and he would say ok Linda I am Chuck now but you only can call me Chuckie. He will be missed.Rest In Peace ,my lifelong friend.Prayers for his family.
