In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Johnny:

So many years have gone by and I still think of you often. I am trying and trying to find that video you came out in just so I can see your face and remember your loving heart. Right now would have been the perfect time for you to come over and give me one of your famous lectures....I miss you sooo much.

Johnny:

I miss you so much. You were always there to be my shoulder to cry on. Now that you are gone, I feel lost. Who is gonna call me to make me laugh now? I hold the memories of all of us back to the Latin Image days in my heart. I will see you again someday. I Love You.

To My cousin Johnny,

On behalf of my family, Roberto(Bobby) & Belinda Martinez Jr, Roberto III, my sister, Michelle and David Kee, and family, and myself, Melissa and Armando Martinez, we are deeply sadden by the news of your passing. We are also sorry for being unable to attend the funeral due to circumstances beyond our control. We all want you to know that we love you and will miss you. I remember meeting you for the last time at Tia Tony's funeral with your sister, Jennifer. Even though we didn't know each other well, I want to let her know that we are family and we will be there for her if she ever needs anything. God Bless.

I met Johnny over 15 years ago as a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary's Youth Group, TYCOT. Through the years we saw each other at different venues when one of Q-Productions groups was performing. To his family my prayers are with you as you have lost a very special person. Two years ago my wife, my daughter and I made a trip to Corpus to see the Selena museum. Lucky for us he was in the office. He gave us the grand tour and took my little girl behind the scenes in the recording studio where Selena recorded her music; he made such an impression on my daughter. Johnny thanks you for giving my daughter the one special moment that she will never forget. May God Bless You.

I will always remember the day we met when I was a Cheerleader at Resurrection School -- I was only 13 years old. We would go to the school dances and dance all night. I'll never forget when you took me as your "DATE" to the Selena Premier and treated me like a Queen! I will treasure them times and keep that wonderful memory always.

Words cannot express how sad I feel. I will miss you calling me “Vern the Burn”

I appreciate everything you did for Angelica and the rest of my family. We will miss you deeply.

I know that you are in a better place than we are and God is at your side.

We will see each other again! Luv ya Jay! Miss you always!

Johnny, also affectionately known as the Mayor of Denver Harbor, John Boy, Backdoor Johnny, Johnny B Good, Snake, the list continues, UnOfficial announcer of the DH Football League, Official MC to most League Dances. You were truly "The Voice" of the community behind that contagious smile and magnetic personality. A gentle and compassionate spirit, truly loved by all who knew him. Our community was your extended family and You and Jennifer were members of our family. We missed ya'll when you moved to Corpus, but you did come back for visits, and now the time came when you had to go again. In our hearts we all know there is a higher power to answer to and you answered the call. We were blessed to have known you. "Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget." May God hold you in the palm of his hand, until we all meet again, my friend. Irma & Dave "Bull" Arevalo & Family

I wish you could have been here to see all the people who showed up at your Rosary and Funeral service; to hear the beautiful music sang in His and your honor; to hear Father David's kind memories of you and your sidekick. It was a sight to see and hear as I am sure what you are seeing and hearing now is even more beautiful that what we experienced these last couple of days. Johnny, may God continue to bless you always. Jennifer and Sam, you are in my prayers. Much Love, America.

You were such a kind a sweet gentleman. I remember your sweet laughter and kind words. I was blessed to have known you. When God put you in my path so often during the many youth retreats, I always found it to be a blessing. What an inspiration you were to the participants and staff.

Your kindness to me and my family when we visited you in Corpus will always be remembered. God bless you and your family. My prayers are with your family.
