Died December 14, 2011 at Bronson Hospital. David was born November 2, 1938 in Jackson, MI, a son of, Raymond and Flossie (Mitchell) Clearwaters and had lived in Kalamazoo for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a plumber at Kalamazoo College for 25 years. David was a family man; a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was also a football fan, especially for U of M and the Detroit Lions and was
an avid fisherman. David
was preceded in death by
a daughter, Patricia Clear-waters in 2009. On January 13, 1962, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Altoft, who survives. David and Carolyn would have been married for 50 years on January 13th. Also surviving are a step-son, David Altoft of Kalamazoo; a son, Gregory Clearwaters of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren, Chad and Crystal Clearwaters, Brandon and Shannon Jordan, Alicia (Mark) Moman; and a great grandson Jaiden Jordan; two sisters, Sandra (Stacy) Thompson of Mt. Pleasant and Dorothy (Robert) McCurley of Surprise, AZ; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate the life of David will be held at 11:00 AM on January 7, 2012 at the South Side Church of the Nazarene, 752 Denway Dr. with Pastor Chris Pettit officiating.
