Jean Blalock Obituary
Gobles
Passed away at her home surrounded by her loving
family on Wednesday, April
6, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jean was born in Kalamazoo, MI on November 8, 1946 to John and Mabel (Sweezy) DeHollander. Jean enjoyed solving puzzles, gardening, camping, fishing and loved spending time with her grandchildren. On July
2, 1994 she was united in marriage to Jack Blalock who survives. Also surviving are Jean's children, Yvonne (Tim) Hawes, Cristina (Christopher) Arver, David (Tina) Hegedus; grandchildren, Tim (Jennie), Drew (Jessica) and Joe Hawes, JJ and Jessi Hutasingh, Sarah, Tara and Kristine Hegedus, and step-grandchildren, Angie Johnson and Eddie Arver. Jean was delighted to live long enough to see and enjoy her
first great-grandchild, Oliver Hawes. Jean is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Betty Evans of Gobles, Patricia McVay of Coshocton, OH, Leonard (Charlotte) DeHoll-ander of Portage, James (Phyllis) DeHollander of Kalamazoo and Joyce (Leonard) Jensen of Portage; brother and sisters in-law, Kathy Blalock of Portage, Sue (Mike) Carney of Utah and Eric (Kathy) Blalock of Kalamazoo and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jean was thankful for the help she received raising her children from her former in-laws,
Stella and the late Casper Hegedus. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward, John and Bernard DeHollander and in-laws, Robert (Jean) and Gary Blalock, Glenn Evans and Charles McVay. In accordance with Jean's wishes cremation has taken place and a visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2011 from 3-6 PM at the Joldersma and Klein Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11 o'clock at People's Church, 1758 N. 10th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The Rev. Jill McAllister will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to Wings of Hope Hospice. The family would like to thank Dr. Keith Bailey and the staff at Kalamazoo Oncology and Hematology for their devoted care.
