Was this the same Dan Mayo who was my friend when we both sold ice cream for the Delight Wholesale Company in 1972...?

I will not be able to listen to Ricki Lee Jones, Van Morrison, Talking Heads, OMD, Clocks, or Emmy Lou Harris without feeling his presence. My condolences go out to his family and friends who have certainly lost a beautiful spirit from their lives.

Wish that Danny could have been here last month to see the Clocks inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame. We had some good times there, at what is now Liberty Hall, that will never be forgotten!

My heartfelt condolences to Danny's family, whom I knew in Webster, back in the days of Aunt Rosie's Garage, his high school sound/lighting company. I have always remembered him fondly and was so very sad to learn of his passing.

I first met Danny at Freedom Palace in KC. I helped out with his "high concept, low tech" light show which was great fun.
We made trips to his old stomping grounds in St. Louis to see the Faces and the Band.
We also worked together at Cowtown Ballroom.
He was a lovely man. I knew his family quite well and what wonderful people.
I was also sweet on his little sis Debbie.
RIP Danny. Bless you.

Danny took care of us, and I mean that in every sense of the word, for eight years. We were difficult, inexperienced, and reckless. If it wasn't for our crew, the very best in the business, I know I wouldn't still be playing music today.

Danny was the most dedicated, loyal, and professional person, and because of his intense focus on us, our music, and our career, we were able to make it through those first confusing years in the music business. And, Danny was completely beyond corruption. Now I know how important that fact was then. As I said, he took care of us. He understood that our success could only be achieved through hard work and dedication.

Danny was a true artist as well. He did things with lighting that were amazing back in the day. He loved his job, he loved music, and he loved the people he worked with.

So, expect the sunsets to be more beautiful this spring--the colors and the hues brilliant and stunning with just the right amount of shadow and light, and the focus of course perfect. Heaven has a new light man. The best.

Thanks, Danny, for everything. We are all grateful.

I wish I could be there for Danny's memorial at the Midland, but I'm caught up in Wichita with trying to procure gear for musicians of all callings.
I had the pleasure of working with Danny when he was the road manager for the Clocks, one of those great new wave bands, from the 80's.
I seem to remember him travleing with us, with him in a grey Volkswagon Rabbit , all the way from the Uptown in KC to gigs on the west coast.
What a guy, what a talent!
Even though I haven't seen him in years, I'll miss him.
Our time together will be part of my musical life experience.

Danny and I worked and traveled together for 8 years with the Ozark Mountain Daredevils and Cowtown Lighting. For many of those years he was my traveling roommate. Their are very few people in our lives that help define us. Danny did that for me. The time spent with Dan helped define what I'm known for today. Danny and I had a similar work ethic and I'm grateful for his choosing me to be his work partner for all those years. I would see Danny rarely in recent years. When I did see him, we would just continue the conversation where we left off in years past. Thank you Danny for all the miles, all the shows, and all the stories I still tell today. Love You Man

Danny and I met quite by accident about 30 years ago when he came to my church to help me with an event. This chance meeting developed into a deep, loving friendship that survived many ups and downs. Danny became my friend and 'family' from that moment on and was always there to help me with anything. He rescued me more than once on a long night after performing, packing my equipment and following me home to make sure I got there safely. He was one of my heros. I loved him and will miss greatly. My deepest sympathy to his family in this difficult time.

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Danny's beloved family. As a wedding planner in Kansas City, I worked with Danny on several occasions. He was always sweet and kind and fun, but all about business as he was the a professional in every sense of the word. Because Danny was almost always teetering overhead on a ladder or in a cherry picker or on scaffolding, I "looked up to him" both literally and figuratively. As he has now joined the angels in heaven, I will continue to do so with a heavy heart that is less burdened simply to have known him. To his family and friends, I wish you peace.

Danny was a rare breed in the entertainment industry. Never one to wing it, he always had a plan and then could execute it to perfections. We will miss him.

I will miss you Dan.
Your lessons and friendship helped me become the man I am today. All of us need to pass on your lessons to those coming up in this business, time to pay it forward.
