Jayne:

I wish to express my condolences to you and your family relevant to Zack's untimely death. I have many fond memories of the times I spent with Zack. As you know, I follwed him as the Quarterback on Oglethorpe's football team. He was always gracious to me and help me undestand the mental aspect of the game. My sister, Treva, remembers Zack as her wonderful basketball coach at Oglethorpe County.

God Bless in this time of sorrow!

I only found out about Zach's passing this morning. I am so sorry I did not attend the service Tuesday. He was a great friend to me over the years and I will certainly miss him. I had lunch with him last Wednesday and he was very excited about the LSU/Georgia game on Saturday. I hope he was able to see the game.

Jayne and family--and Billy

So very sorry to hear about Zack.

Although a cousin, my memories of Zack are as my ninth grade biology teacher at OCHS way back when. I hated the subject, loved the teacher. He was much more suited to a college environment and doing research.Ironically, my mother had taught Zack--but he was a good student, of course.

Julie and Sonny-- your great grandmother, Obie Stevens Faust, mother of W. Z III "Buddy" and "Little Martha" (Gillen)and my grandmother, Mae Stevens Whitehead, mother of George, Joe and Fred Whitehead and Martha Whitehead Moore, were sisters.

I am remembering when we were children in Miss Mattie Paul's first grade class. Zack and I went all the way through school together and we were always friends. He stopped by to visit me a number of years ago -- I knew immediately who he was even tho I had not seen him in many years. I know it must be so hard for you, his family, and Robert and I pray for God's help to you.

Our sympathy for your loss. Zack was one of the founders of the Department of Biology at Columbus State, and during his 25 years of service to the university he brought an appreciation of the world of plants to many students. For some students, he changed their lives by setting them on a path to share his interests in botany.
