Ronald Johnson Obituary
Ronald (Swede)
Ronald Carl Johnson of Congers, NY, died on Monday October 3rd, at Nyack Hospital, while surrounded by his family. He was 74 Years old and was born in the Bronx on March 23, 1937, to parents Carl and Martha Johnson. He has been a Congers resident since 1952 where he attended Congers High School. In 1954 he set Rockland County High School Basketball records by scoring 45 points in a single game and 285 points in a single season. He received a full scholarship and attended Manhattan College. Ronald was a Life Member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and served as Treasure for Rockland County Carpenters Local 964. Ronald was an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pearl River. He was a member of the VASA club and very proud of his Swedish heritage.
He is survived by his daughter Cathy Cairns and husband Norman from Monroe, NY, son Carl Johnson and wife Kathleen (Cain) of Nyack, NY, daughter Christine Cull and husband Bill from Monroe NY, grandchildren Douglas Cairns, Emily Cairns, Erik Johnson, and Brian Johnson, sister Blenda Smith of Binghamton, NY, and nephews Brad and Norman Smith, and niece Bonnie Tifel.
Viewing will be held on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Religious Services will be held Friday at Good Shepherd Church in Pearl River, NY at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, please provide donations to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pearl River, NY. Michael J. Higgins

To the Johnson Family: Please accept my sincere condolences. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Ron was a friend of my brother Wally Knapp so I've known Ron for many years. He was always so friendly. May he rest in peace.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
