What a lady!
I have so many very special memories of my dear friend and "Adopted Mom". I looked forward to her greeting with a warm hug and kiss.
She will always remain a legend in the Home Economics Department of the Ionia Free Fair. Doris could wallpaper a room with all those ribbons. She was held in high esteem by those who entered and judged baked and canned goods at the fair. Doris and several others set the standard for our enteries and if you could beat Doris you knew you had created an excellent product! That in itself was worth all the work. It was wonderful competition. Her pies were in great demand and made for a fun, lively time at the cake and pie auctions. I will always cherish the picture of her walking into the building, year after year laoded down with 25 (the maximum you could enter) baked and 25 canned goods.
Doris has left her mark on my life. She will always be with me in my cherished memories.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Doris' family.

How wonderful is it is to remember Mom and Dad talk about their good friend, Doris. From their close neighborhood homes on DeWitt Rd, a deep friendship grew over the years. Mom, especially, treasured her many years of friendship with Doris. May Doris, Lloyd, Mickey as well as our own parents, Theresa and Rob, rest in peace forever and ever.

My husband and I were sadden to hear the passing of Doris. I have a lot of wonderful memories of her and Lloyd at their cottage on Intermediate Lake. I will always treasure her delicious pies and bake goodies she would bake for us to enjoy. Doris was a wonderful lady and she will be missed deeply by her family and friends. She was a blessing for me to have known her through the years and a honor to call her my "Aunt Doris". She has earned her angel wings and she is with Uncle Lloyd and Mickey. Our deepest sympathy to the family.
