News Death Notice

JONES, Joy 79, of Middletown, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at the Residence at Kensington Place. She was born in Middletown on March 12, 1931 to parents Charles Elmer and Margaret (Gebhart) Clapp. Joy was a member of the Bahai faith. She flew with the Navy Blue Angels and wrote many stories on the American Red Cross. She was a member of the Archeological Society of Ohio and discovered an archeological site near Franklin, the "Clark Site". She was known for her love of Day Lillies, which included 170 different varieties planted at her home. She was an avid animal lover with a passion for horses and cats. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Arthur Jones; two daughters, Deborah A. Henderson and Linda Carol Jones; and five grandchildren, Kim Herold, Aaron Herold, Adam Herold, Sam Ferguson and Audrey Ferguson. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Susan D. Mize. Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 25, 2010 at 10:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Kenneth Fey officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Animal Friends Humane Society, 1820 Princeton Rd., Hamilton, Ohio 45011.
