ELIZABETH HARRIS Obituary

Harris, Elizabeth May of Montgomery died May 14, 2012 of a heart attack. Born February 8, 1931 in Montgomery, she was the third daughter of Chiles and Dorothy Harris. Her childhood was spent at the family's pioneer homeplace, "Thornfield" in Elmore Co., and she attended Sidney Lanier High School and Alabama College for Women (now Montevallo.) Betty was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture until her retirement. A member of St. Peter's Catholic Church since adulthood, she was a talented painter and loved animals and the Florida coast. Left to cherish her memory are her surviving sister, Laura Harris Johnson of Birmingham, her brother-in-law Robert Galloway Johnson, and numerous other relatives. Burial will be private.
