Samuel Thames Obituary

Thames, Samuel "Sam" Franklin, 80, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 1:00 - 2:00 at White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home, with funeral services beginning at 2:00 with Sister Beverly Walker officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery following the service. Sam served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and was an avid Alabama fan. He also enjoyed golf and bowling. Sam was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ruby Thames; son, Mike Grantham; daughter, Pam Bing (Charles); son, Matt Thames (Kasey); sister-in-law, Barbara Wilson; grandchildren, Michael Grantham, Jr., Michelle Sigler, Brandon Hutton, Dustin Arant, Julianna Thames, Eli Thames; great-grandchildren, Harlie Grantham, Isabella Grantham, Cheyenne Hutton, Daniel Sigler, Tory Sigler; and two nephews. Pallbearers will be Charles Bing, Tommy Rhodes, Shannon Rhodes, Dustin Arant, Jody Summerlin, and Michael Grantham, Jr.
