Dr. Farber was such a wonderful doctor. He was my pediatrician and was always very caring and kind to our family. He treated my neice also. My mother was a pianist and so enjoyed sharing her fondness for music and discussing piano with him. Fortunately, in my adult years, I was able to visit with him at the WWII museum when he performed and at the New Orleans International Piano Competition each summer. He was always so kind and caring. I will keep him and all of his family in my prayers.

Dr. Farber was a wonderful doctor. When he joined the group in New Orleans, he was the doctor I always asked for because he was always very kind, patient, and gentle with me. I wasn't so afraid anymore because he never hurt me and he always took the time to answer my questions. When my children were born, he became their pediatrician, too, and took wonderful care of them. There never was a kinder man. Thank you, Dr. Farber.

Dr. Farber was one of the kindest men I've ever met. I know through Shellye he was also a beloved father and husband. As my children's pediatrician, he was beloved by us, as well. I trusted him implicitly. He was an oasis of calm, no matter how busy he was. Rest in peace, dear Dr. Farber. We will always remember you. My thoughts and prayers go to the family.

Dear Cynthia, Shellye, Scott and Stacey,
I was so saddened to hear of Dr. Farber's passing. I met him when Orin completed his time in the Army back in the 70's. Having lost my parents as a young adult, he was a guiding force in my life while trying to raise my children. Whenever we went to visit him in the office, he always treated me with the kindest and professional courtesy and I grew to love him. He became a treasure in my life, teaching me so much and filling a fatherly void. We shared many wonderful moments and my family joins me in sending you our deepest sympathy. Thank you for sharing him!!!

Dr. Farber was a savior to me. My month old baby was screaming constantly. After examining my baby several times my first pediatrician decided she was "spoiled". I called Dr Farber's office (with the baby screaming in the background) and his nurse immediately said "bring that baby right in". He examined her for a while and had me wait; he then put her in Children's Hospital and ran tests. In the end it was just colic, but he took the time to find that out. From then on he was my pediatrician and I told everyone who would listen how kind and caring a doctor he was. You all will be in my prayers.

Dear Mrs. Farber and Family,
As I stared at Dr. Farber's picture this morning I began to think of memories I had of him. I share two of my favorites with you. One morning I was working with CFW on the hospital book and I pointed out a mistake he made. (CFW just didn't make mistakes) Dr. Farber was passing by the desk and Dr. Charles said "Stu, can you believe I made a mistake". Dr. Farber immediately fell to his knees and started to bow saying "the great one has made a mistake". At first I didn't want to laugh because Dr. Farber was so professional. Another time while moving our office to the new location on Veterans, I wanted to make sure Dr. Rothschild's statue would travel in my car for safety. When Dr. Farber saw me walking out of the doctor's office with the statue he laughed and said that was exactly what he was coming to do. We both were sentimental about that statue and when we reached the new office he asked someone to take a picture of both of us holding the statue together. I will remember Dr. Farber in my prayers and send my love to his beloved family with the hope of deep healing.
Our Love,
Gay and Henry Leland

Dr Farber was my pediatrician when I was a child, and my first inspiration to become a physician. He served as my preceptor when I was a medical student during my pediatric rotation. I currently practice in Baton Rouge, and hope to live up to the example he set for both his patients and his community.
