Remembering Lyle today. I cant believe its been 8 years since his passing. I was privileged to know him and consider it an honour to have met such a giant of a man yet who was so humble. RIP Lyle - your were a star.

I was privileged to have met Lyle and Sybil when they visited Europe in the mid 1970's. I took up their kind offer to stay at Sutton Creek with them when I first visited the US in 1979. They subsequently stayed at my parents house on a visit to the UK. I remember fondly talking with Lyle about his war service and was impressed by both his bravery and humility. It was a privilege and an honour to have known him and I send my sincere condolences to Sybil and his family. " Jeffrey B Fenton, Chorley, Lancashire, UK.

I remember when I first met Lyle. I was with the OSU Foundation and was coordinating a Telefund in Tillamook in 1980. After raising some funds for the OSU we went over to the Edmunds home in Garibaldi to celebrate with the best seafood feed on the coast. The night was made more enjoyable by having Lyle leading us in song at the piano for quite a session. There was not a time that when I was passing through Tillamook that I didn't think of 'Spook'. He was a great Marine and BEAVER. He was a real HERO. He was my friend. My sincere condolences go to his family.

The Lake family expresses it great sorrow and sadness today. But we rejoice in the life of Lyle Specht and the wonderful fellow Marine and friend that he has been to our father, P Frank Lake for all these many years. Just know our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I know Dad wishes he could get to Oregon to be with you but it is too long of a journey from Texas. He is with you in spirit for sure!
