Janet Fuhrman Obituary

Fuhrman, Janet Parker 85 8/1/1923 1/22/2009 Janet Parker Fuhrman passed away peacefully at home in her warm bed with her family beside her. Born in Portland, she was the daughter of Charles T. Parker and Hazel Russell Parker and was the middle sibling of older brother Russell Parker and younger brother Jack Parker, both deceased. Janet attended Duniway Grade School, Washington High School and the University of Oregon where she met the love of her life, varsity basketball player Rolph Fuhrman. Rolph and Janet wed on Nov. 27, 1943. They had two sons, Charles and James, as well as two grandsons, Weston and Ryan. Janet was always very fit, athletic and adventurous. She was a member of the Town Club, Multnomah Athletic Club and Waverley Country Club. Janet adored their vacation homes in Palm Dessert, Calif., Seaside and especially Tillamook. Janet loved tennis, golf, fishing, crabbing and was a life master bridge player and competed at The Wild Wist Bridge Club in Los Angeles with other top U.S. players. Janet and Rolph were blessed with a marriage made in heaven. They were a deeply committed couple and were rarely apart from one and another during their 65-plus-year union. Even though her father was a devoted Oregon State Beaver, Janet and Rolph were just as devoted Ducks with season tickets and, until recently, attended most football games at Autzen Stadium. Janet was a woman of impeccable style, class and taste. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Private services will be at Waverley Country Club. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Humane Society.
