Lydia Jewell Jeffrey , 94, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012, in Jayton. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2012, at the McCaulley Methodist Church. Burial will be in the McCaulley Cemetery directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
Born May 9, 1917, in Fisher County on the Newman Ranch, Jewell was a daughter of the late Ed and Pearl (Anderson) Gibson. She married James T. Jeffrey June 29, 1933, in Sylvester. Jewell worked at Walls in Sweetwater, then owned and operated Jeffrey Country Store for 20 years until retiring.
She loved spending time with her grandkids and traveling in their RV.
Jewell was a member of the McCaulley Methodist Church.
Jewell is preceded in death by her husband, one son (Billy Wayne Jeffrey), one daughter (Charolette Elizabeth Jeffrey), two grandsons, (Britt Jeffrey and Todd Jeffrey), two brothers, six sisters and one daughter-in-law (Jonelle Jeffrey).
Survivors include three sons, Johnny Jeffrey (and wife, Babs) of Hamlin, Jerry Jeffrey of Sylvester, and Jackie Jeffrey (and wife, Barbara) of McCaulley; one sister, Estelle Self; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Jeffrey.

I worked with Mrs. Jeffrey at Sweetwater. She was a sweet and wonderful lady, My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
