Isaura Hernandez-Ramos de Velez

Isaura Isaura Hernandez-Ramos de Velez, 84, an incredibly beautiful, strong, loving, vivacious, and elegant woman, passed away on August 20, 2011 at 1:30 a.m. She is fiercely loved by her three children, ten grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren, and most of all by her husband of 64 years. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she went on to travel the world over with her husband, imposing her tenderness, kindness and forward thinking. Upon becoming ill, Isaura moved to Connecticut to be closer to her family. She graced her family with seven more years of life against all odds and brought happiness to all who knew her. She leaves a legacy of self awareness, grace, astounding strong will, and gentle perseverance. Her love for lollipops was a metaphor for her search of the sweetness in life and her belief that there is always something good in every situation. We will all miss her terribly, but we know that she is looking over us, smiling and proud of what she started with her beloved husband 64 years ago. As our matriarch, she created a family that is strongly united, rich with love and that will carry forth her lively spirit.

Funeral services will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel noon Sunday, August 21, 2011 with Brian Willard officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Arrangements by Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
