Karen Harne Obituary

KAREN L. HARNE, 64 ROCKFORD - Karen L. Harne, 64, of Rockford died at 6:35 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, in her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Born June 2, 1944, the daughter of Ralph and Ida (Frueh) Harne. Karen was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing and gambling. She also enjoyed babysitting her nieces and nephews and watching them play sports. Most important to Karen was spending quality time with her family. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for 25 years and was a member of the church council. Previously employed at Household Finance, Home Federal and most recently Northwest Bank. Survivors include sisters, Rosemary (Les) Graham of Monroe, Wis., Virginia Larson of Machesney Park and Dorothy (Johnny) Lockett of Rockford; brother-in-law, Richard (Rosene) Anderson of Rockford; seven nieces; five nephews; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Predeceased by parents; sister, Marilyn Anderson; brother, Robert Harne; brother-in-law, Earl Larson; nephews, Timothy Anderson and Angelo Catanese; and nieces, Carrie Lockett and Pam Blomquist. Karen left an imprint of love on so many lives and will be missed greatly by all she touched. Special thanks to Karen's caregivers during her short illness, and for David's dedicated gift of giving. Service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, with the Rev. Ralph Kuespert and Chaplain Jason Turner officiating. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, and from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Cancer Society, 4312 E. Karen was a truly special friend. I worked with her at Home Federal and bowled with her for many years. She was a beautiful person inside and out. A joy to know! We enjoyed so many great times, I will miss her always. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her great family.
