David Salazar Obituary
1st LT. David J. Salazar, U.S.A.F. passed away November 11, 2011. He was born on March 13, 1987 in Austin, Texas. He was a graduate of Marshall High School in 2005 and a Distinguished Graduate of the U.S.A.F. Academy in 2009. He is survived by his parents, Lt. Col. Retired U.S.A.F. Jerry Salazar and his wife Jane; brothers, Robert Salazar, Capt. James Salazar and his wife Rachel and their three children; grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Clifford Trimble; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Visitation will be at Zion Lutheran Church, 9944 Leslie Rd at Braun and Loop 1604 on Friday, November 18, 2011 beginning at 11:00 A.M. A funeral service will be conducted at the church at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. David Schulte officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery with full Air Force Military Honors. I met David this summer during Ops Air Force and his amazing kindness and character was so incredible to see. I only knew him for a short while, but I can say that he has had such a positive impact on every life he has touched. My prayers go out to your family. God Bless. I only heard of David's passing today at a reunion of Marshall teachers. We all felt so strongly about the quality of student that David portrayed. I was fortunate to have enjoyed David as one of my stellar students in Calculus AP in his senior year. His strength of character, maturity, self discipline and motivation ensured him of success. David was a personable young man and took the time to share with me his personal dreams and goals.
It was so heart-warming to have him return to visit his former teachers to witness the fruition of those dreams.
After 35 years of teaching math at John Marshall High School, David certainly stands out as a student I will never forget. He touched my life in a very positive way.

You all have been in my prayers for the past week and will continue to be. I am so incredibly sad and devastated to lose a great friend--he was such a kindhearted and dedicated man, and Dave will be greatly missed, by me and by all his friends, acquaintances, and family. I just talked to him last week about seeing him once I was back--now I will have to wait until Heaven...I wish that I could have gone to the funeral but my deployment prevented me from doing so. David trained me in Jack's Valley and later became my friend as I became an upperclassman. He truly played a pivotal role in shaping me into the officer I am today and I will never forget him. I am praying for all who knew him and especially for those that loved him.

I had David in AP English when he was a junior at JMHS. He was such a bright and wonderful student whom I enjoyed seeing each day. He came by to see me each year he was at the Academy, and I remember he came by after he graduated in his lieutenant's uniform. I am so very, very sorry for your loss.
