Michael was a man among men. Though Michael knew God throughout his life he accepted Jesus into his heart several years ago through the richness of his friends and the fellowship at New Hope Chapel of Plymouth. He knew without doubt that he would one day enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. He knew that there he would no longer be in pain or feel the weakness of his illness that he so resented. It was what kept him from working and providing as he wished for those he loved; primarily his son Michael. He was strong and passionate, polite, loving, brilliant, patient, an amazing cook, a political and historic genius and of course a bibliophile. He always had a book with him and several opened at home that he was currently reading. He had a gift for making those around him feel as if they had known him for a lifetime. He made friends very easily and had many. Each and every friend meant so much to him. He never hesitated to stop to talk to a fellow veteran and would go out of his way to do so. He adored his son Michael and often said that the best day of his life was the day he was born. He was so proud of his son's artistic and musical talents. He often remarked of their mutual love of literature and how impressed he was of Mike's ability to retain and also express that which he had read. He hoped that one day young Michael would realize the wonder of his own gifts and have a full and rich life. Michael spoke of his many memories of growing up with his family in Quincy. He loved his mother and brothers and sisters so much. I believe he cherished the wonders of the ocean more than most. A day on a boat to him was like a slice of heaven. He knew everything there was to know about boating and fishing. Michael joined the Marines when he was 17 years old. So young to enlist but even then he was known for his love for his Country. He was a proud Marine and a very proud American. He loved Plymouth and particularly loved spending time at the waterfront people watching and discussing boats. Michael truly wished he could have left everyone a million dollars but, of course, as for most that was impossible. Hopefully, what all will remember is that very handsome man with that amazing smile who instead left us with a million stories. He had such a gift of telling stories that he could make you laugh till you cried; and them some. And, yes, we all have stories of Michael. But truly what he would want from us all is this one thing: that we only remember the best of his best. Because there was just so much. Rest in Peace our Michael Foster Kneeland. We will see you again in Heaven for all of Eternity. But boy oh boy will you be missed until then.

So sorry for the loss of Michael. He is with his Mom and Dad and sister looking down on his siblings and family. I have a wonderful picture of myself holding his infant son many years ago at Auntie Flo's house. Good memories.
