THELMA MANNING TRUITT

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH --

Thelma Manning Truitt, 81, of Wrightsville Beach, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends at her home on August 4, 2011.

Thelma was born on October 19, 1929, in Williamston, NC, daughter of the late William Dave Manning and Arbell Jones Manning.

Mrs. Truitt, a devoted Christian, was a member of the Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church and served as the long term treasurer and a children's Sunday School teacher. She was a long time employee of Sears in Raleigh and Wilmington until her retirement. She enjoyed puzzles, games and was an avid fan of college basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball. Thelma was a beloved mother and grandmother. She was well known for her wit and wisdom.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Truitt; eight brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Truitt is survived by a son, John L. Truitt, Jr. and his fiancé, Wendy Blue of Southern Pines, NC; a daughter, Barbara Edmonds and her husband, Mike of Wrightsville Beach, NC; two grandsons, David Edmonds and his wife, Amanda of Sylva, NC and Christopher Edmonds of Wilson, NC; brother, Buck Manning; sister, Betty Chesson both of Williamston, NC.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011, at 3:00pm at Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church, 601 Causeway Drive, Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480, with Rev. Danny Hawkins officiating. A visitation with family and friends will follow the service.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, August 8, 2011, at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409 with Rev. Keith Louthan officiating.

The family would like to especially thank Robin and Beth of Lower Cape Fear Hospice and a special family friend, Louise Riggs for their love and support.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.

The Staff of Coble Ward- Smith is honored to serve the family of Thelma Manning Truitt.
