To the family of Ssgt Chris Zimmerman,
He is a great man and while we served together he was a gentleman and an educator to his fellow Marines. Never did he fail to make a mistake by a junior marine into a learning experiance and to ensure those under his command learned from that same mistake to prevent it from being repeated. He is a go to marine with selfless dedication and determination to make all marines succeed. While I only had a short time serving with him in HMLA -267 I can say this with absolute certainty he is an outstanding person, friend, mentor to junior Marines. He will be missed. My deepest condolences.

Well Chris, its been 4 years since I posted in this. I'm a sophmore now. Im really trying not to sound like a little kid but even now, you are my role model. Every year, when we have the veterans appreciation at our school, you are ALWAYS the one I pick because you are such a hero to this country. Just becuase you are one person in a big group, doesnt mean you dont matter. every living soul that goes out there and risks their lives is important. I hope to finally meet you someday to thank you for keeping us safe. God Bless You Christopher! You are my HERO.

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Another Fallen Hero ~ we understand what you are experiencing and feeling. No amount of words can ease the pain of your loss. I know first hand there are no words of comfort at this time. God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and made the ultimate sacrifice. My deepest condolences, sympathy and prayers go out to the entire family. May God grant you peace, strength and comfort in such a difficult time. I will keep your family in my prayers along with all the families of our American Hero’s. Thank you.
My family and I are thankful for the Bravery, Courage, Determination and Service to fight for our country (our freedom), from you, my son and all the others in our armed forces for the sacrifice made for us. You all will not be forgotten.
We also have a Marine daughter and Marine son-in-law. “Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

Deat Faith & Family,
This is very difficult for us and we can only begin to think how difficult it has been for you. It has given my wife and I much to think about and I still get sick in the gut when I think about this. It has even been difficult for us to sleep and to date Chris is the last thing I think of before I fall asleep. You see, our son Corporal Craig Conroy was with Z-man when they were ambushed and Chris was hit. Craig was the Marine who radioed for help. We did not know this until we saw Craig when he arrived back to Camp Lejeuene with 2nd Recon this past Thursday. It has been a bit surreal as he and the others seem to holding back the emotions and reality of what has happened. Each of the boys are wearing one of Chris's dogtags, Craig has his on his watch band and does not go anywhere without it. I hear you are headed to Lejeuene to meet with Chris's buddies. I hope this helps to ease your pain and I hope that Craig will be able to tell you what you need to know. Once again we are thinking of you and if there is any thing we can do to help please let us know.

I attended the McNeil Homecoming Game tonight and saw that your son was honored by the McNeil JROTC Color Guard. It was a very moving ceremony where his presence was felt in the whole stadium. My son was in JROTC for 4 years with Lt. Col. Lamkin and Sgt. Aaron. His best friend signed up last year with the Army after high school and is serving time in Iraq. I pray for him and all our soldiers there every day and send him mail frequently. He was injured several months ago but has recuperated well and ironically is home on leave for 2 weeks now before going back. He was at the game and I know he reflected on the ceremony, as we all did.
Our prayers are with you,

With the loss of Chris so heavy on everyones hearts and minds, it reminded me how much a person and their family sacrafice when they join the armed forces. Here in San Diego, we have two Marine Corps bases and several Navy bases, so there are always military personnel running around.
Today at lunch I walked by two gentlemen in uniform. As we passed I said to them "In case anyone hasn't thanked you lately, thank you." The look on their faces was priceless...as if I was the first person to ever thank them for what they do for me and this great country I get to live in. They both told me I was welcome and then continually thanked me for thanking them. Shows you the type of people they are...GREAT.
I'm sharing this with you all in hopes that you will be sure to thank the next person in uniform you run into. If it weren't for people like Chris, I can't imagine what our lives would be like.
God bless this great country and all who defend her.

Chris was in our youngest son's (Zane Garrett) high school graduating class when we lived in Round Rock (McNeil H.S., Class of 96). To the Zimmerman family,
I was a very close friend of Chris'. To us, he was just "Z". I served with him in 3/6, and served in combat with him in Afghanistan. It hit me hard to learn of his passing. Chris was not only a good friend, but one of the best men I ever knew. He never let his faith, nor his heart be corrupted. We spent many a night talking together, playing pool, and even more nights huddled around any flat space we could find to play Spades. I will miss him like a brother, as I loved him like one. Please know that everyone who ever knew him, knew as fine a man as we ever could, and we share your loss. I will do my best to try and reach the family to offer my personal condolences.

To Sgt. Chris Zimmerman's family,
I am terribly saddened by the loss of Chris. He was part of my life for many years via Davina. I know we shall see him someday in the Lord's presence. May the thought of that reunion comfort you!

Father we entrust our brother Christopher to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.

To Sgt. Chris Zimmerman's Family,
I am the Mom of Davina a former Marine and close friend of Chris and therefore heard Chris's name so many times and for so many years, that I feel he was a part of my life as well. I am shocked and grieved with you as my tears mingle with all those who grieve his loss. My comfort is to know that he had made peace with God and had asked Jesus Christ into his life and there will be a reunion with Chris one day when we all have to leave this earth. My heart and prayers go out to you and remembering that he is in a better place, where there is no more fighting and bloodshed. It breaks my heart when such a vibrant young man leaves the earth too soon by fighting evil in this world courgageously.
With hearfelt sympathy,

To Christopher's family and friends-
My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.
They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.

Sgt. Christopher M. Zimmerman
His courage, heroism, and duty to his country will be honored, just as the 249 Texans who went before him. We continue the Memorial Trees project and it is with pride and sadness that I make another ornament. Please accept my sympathies for the loss of your son.

Dear Mike, Faith, and family,
My deepest heartfelt sympathy and condolences goes to both of you and your family at the loss of Staff Sergeant Christopher Zimmerman. He paid the highest price of honor and will never be forgotten. I attended the funeral and graveside services today and was moved even more when listening to words spoken by friends and written words from family. Chris was an amazing and inspiring young man who accomplished so much in 28 years. Mike, Faith, and family you are in my thoughts and prayers as you go through such a difficult time.

Dear Zimmerman and Parrish Families: My heart, thoughts and prayers have been with you all this past week and especially today as you laid a true American Hero to rest. I've only known Chris for a couple of months but that's all it takes to know what an amazing person he is.
There are no right words to say to give you comfort right now, but I hope you know that Christopher will live on. He will live on through all the wonderful memories he has made with his family and his friends. No one and nothing can ever take that away.
Thank you for being the wonderfully supportive and loving family Chris needed to live the life he loved...as a Marine. Peace be with you.
P.S. Heaven got lucky when Chris showed up.

To Sgt. Christopher Zimmerman's family, while our family did not know your son, last night my young son chose to come with me to honor Christopher, a hero of Round Rock and America! We were both deeply touched yet we cannot possibly comprehend the depth of your sacrifice and pain, but know that we are proud of Christopher's service and sacrifice to America and to freedom. You are in our thoughts and prayers. May God bless you in some special way.
