Survivors include her children, Alice Thomas Lashley Brooker of Chapin, Katherine W. Thomas of Columbia, J. Gordon Thomas Jr. and wife, Adele, of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Penny S. Thomas of Columbia; grandchildren, William A. "Tripp" Lashley III and wife, Terri, Christopher G. "Chris" Lashley, E.A. "Chip" Brooker Jr. and wife, Rebekah, Katherine A. "Katie" Daniel, Bruce R. "Tripp" Volk III, Slayden A. Thomas, Joseph G. Thomas III, William G. Thomas Jr. and Elizabeth P. Thomas; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, William, Hutch, Makaila and Mac. In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her son, William G. "Bill" Thomas; brother, W.W. Marchant Jr.; grandson, George T. "Tommy" Daniel; and son-in-law, Eugene A. "Gene" Brooker.
A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday, September 29, 2011, at St. Martin's-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Sarah V. Johnston and the Rev. David W. Wagner officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Shives Funeral Home is assisting the family.
