Matthew DiGiacomo Obituary

Matthew R. (James) DiGiacomo, 29, of Skippack, formerly of Collegeville, passed away October 16, 2011 in an automobile accident. He and his wife, Nicole D. (Pino) DiGiacomo, observed their 4th wedding anniversary on September 7th of this year. Born September 3, 1982 in Huntingdon Valley, he was a son of William A. James, Sr. and Rita (DiMassa) James of Skippack. Matthew graduated with honors from Perkiomen Valley High School in 2000, where he was an All-State soccer player and excelled in wrestling. He received his Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Marketing in 2004 from St. Joseph University with honors, where he played soccer as well. He was employed with Novartis Pharmaceuticals, serving the territory of Northeast Philadelphia, and won national awards for his work. Matthew enjoyed coaching Perkiomen Valley Travel Soccer and was a soccer enthusiast since he was five years old. He was a proud Italian-American who spoke Italian fluently and was passionate about everything he did. Above all, he was devoted and loyal to his wife and four children, as well to the rest of his family. Nothing came before his family and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Kayla D. DiGiacomo; three sons, Matthew W., Joseph R., and Nicholas P. DiGiacomo; a sister, Jenna Radcliffe and her husband Nathan of Collegeville; a brother, William A. DiGiacomo and his wife Patricia of Philadelphia; and his paternal grandparents, Albert and Theresa James of Norristown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 11AM on Thursday, October 20, at St. Eleanor Catholic Church, 647 Locust St. Collegeville, where family will receive friends from 9-10:30AM with interment following at Limerick Garden of Memories. Family will also receive friends on Wednesday from 4-8PM at R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 3440 Skippack Pike @ Cedars Rd., Skippack. Matthew,

You would be so very proud of your family. The way they have stepped up to take care of your children is nothing short of amazing. Their hearts continue to break & mourn your loss and yet they still put your children's needs first. I always knew what great parents you have but their acts of sacrifice and love is further testament to how very much they love you, your wife and kids.
I pray for them all as well you. R.I.P. & God Bless you.

As time goes by I see a permanent change in our families lives. We embrace every little strange thing that we see or hear and we hope that it is you reaching out to us. We talk about you all the time and we will continue to keep your memory alive. We know you are watching over (Pop Eye) in the Nursing home because he mentions your name out of the blue as if you were there visiting him. Please continue making your presence known, it puts a smile on our face, even if it's for just a few moments. We all deeply miss you....

As my 30th birthday passes I miss you more then words can express. I miss your hugs, which were the best. I miss your smile, which could get anyone to smile. I could go on and on forever at what I miss but I know you are watching out for everyone you loved. One day we will meet again and my best friend of 25 years will be near again to laugh with and share stories. Rest in peace until we meet again.

The reality has still not completely set in. I am angry that you are not here to be with us, but mostly with your children. Every time I put little Nico to bed and rub his little back as he falls asleep, I think of you and hope that you are looking down at the magic you made with my daughter. I will miss you always......it will never end.

There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about Matt. He is a man I admired because of his passion for life, his love for others and his devotion to family and friends. He was the self proclaimed world's greatest at everything, the master of all and a failure at
nothing. His determination and grit was an inspiration to all who observed. A true believer that struggle and strife come before success. As the holiday season approaches, I know you will watch over your family.

It was an honor and a privilege to be your friend.

I had the pleasure of working with Matt. He came into Frankford Ave. Family Practice in the Northeast on a regular basis. We were always greeted by his smile. Matt never had a bad day but was always willing to listen to ours. We enjoyed having lunch with him and talking about what number baby he was on, Italian traditions, and his love of his children and wife. He made us feel like we knew all of them individually. Matt, you hold a special place in my heart and will be missed dearly.
