Cruz P. Velasquez, 78, of Harlingen, TX passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011 in Harlingen, TX.
He retired from H.I.S.D. after 24 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his wife Soledad Velasquez and a son Cruz Velasquez, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 4 years Leticia Velasquez; daughters Janie (Robert Diaz) Velasquez, Mary (Rene) Sanchez, Rosie (Orlando) Casanova, Ada (Mario Moreno) Canales and Sandy (Art Martinez) Velasquez; sons Peter (Hilda) Velasquez, Jose Martin (Cecilia) Velasquez and David Velasquez; 23 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; numerous brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held 10:00am-9:00pm Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in the Rudy Garza Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm.
Mass of Christian burial 10:00am Thursday, August 11, 2011 Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, TX.
Serving as pallbearers will be Pete Velasquez, Jose Martin Velasquez, Sr., David Velasquez, Michael Velas-quez, Jose Martin Velas-quez, Jr., and Rene Sanchez.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen.
