Fr Dave Conway will always be the light that I follow as his path is one with Jesus. I miss him so very much. He was to me the perfect priest. We had so many wonderful discussions over dinner and his beloved "Manhattans". It was my enlightenment hour just to be in his presence. I miss his wonderful jokes and his inside stories of The District. I'll never forget one Sunday at High Mass, he was proceeding up the aisle in all his priestly garments (it was my first High Mass) and the church was packed and I remember his hands were tightly clasped together. As he passed where I was standing, he began to wiggle his clasped hands back and forth, so subtly, as he looked straight into my soul. It was as if he knew I needed him just to look at me, to acknowledge me (I had just joined the Church, thanks to my wife and her wonderful Mumsy, Ruth and my sponsor Bill) ...but Fr Dave never did just what you expected, he always went much further. Of all the politicians and important people that were there that day, he approached me, looked straight at me, and smiled and nodded approvingly towards me; I sensed that everything was alright...May I never forget his kindness and generosity...To my wonderful priest, who made becoming Catholic an honor...I miss you always.

There I was, a scared new altar boy in the middle of mass, holding out the empty silver hand bowl I had forgotten to fill. As he plunged his fingers into imaginary water and scratched the bottom of the empty bowl,Father Conway's eyes glanced at me and twinkled kindly. Embarrassment drained away from me as he "dried" his fingers on the hand towel and shot me a conspiratorial grin...He was a wonderful priest and good friend. I remember his love of opera, his squash game, his Andes mints, his Philadelphia turtle soup, and especially-his great sense of humor. I'll miss you Father Conway!

Fr David Conway was a great inspiration to us all while we were in High School. His pragmatic approach was what we needed as young men growing up in the late 1950's.

Father Conway married Joan and I in 1978. He did a good job since we are still married. I have always considered him one of the good guys, a pastoral priest, not a business man.

Dear Family,
I know Father Conway is on to his heavenly reward,
as a good and faithful servant. He was
full of , wisdom, humour, kindness,.
also, humility and a channel of the Lords 'peace. I
used to go to St Mary s Sunday pm Mass,
I was a Nurse on night shift at Childrens' Hospital. I was blessed to have known Father and still blessed with an advocate in heaven.

Father Conway, I want to thank you so much for your selfless ministry to Christ's Priesthood. You always taught us the Proper way to Worship, and for this we know your job was pleasing in God's sight. The heavenly angels are now rejoicing as Jesus welcomes you home in company with all the Saints! We can now ask for your intercession as you see God face to face!

Father Conway was - and shall remain in our memories - A good Priest, a Good Man and a Good Friend. We at St. Mary, Mother of God Church and the other parishes where he did God's work, will miss Father but now that he has gone to his reward, it is comforting to know we have a Friend At Court.

While it was not my good fortune to know you personally, the legacy you leave in the hearts of those who did is a true testament of your devotion to your vocation. Please watch over and intercede for those of us at St. Andrew Apostle who carry on your mission as a good and faithful servant.

I will always remember Fr. Conway with both gratitude and joy. He supported me through my grief at the loss of my Mom and honored her beautifully at her funeral mass. He always managed to insert a personal note in his Christmas cards to me as a teacher at St. Andrews and was always willing to hold a Mass for the students traveling on our field trips to Florida. Most recently, he was kind enough to bless my new home in Delaware. I'm just sorry we didn't get to Bella Capri for lunch. Rest in peace, Father Conway. You will be missed.

In 1990 when he was pastor at St. Andrew Apostle, and I wanted my children in the school (but had very little money to do that), Fr. Conway found a way for me to work for much of my tuition. Catholic schools need more people with charitable hearts like Fr. Conway...I will be forever grateful for his kindness! Rest easy Father!!!

Father Conway was a fine mentor to many seminarians assigned to his parish, including myself. May this generous priest now receive the reward which awaits good and faithful servants.

A heartfelt goodbye to one of the best Pastors in the Archdiocese of Washington. A beloved friend to me of 31 years that I will always cherish. We were a great team at St. Ignatius in Oxon Hill which began a wonderful friendship. You have been the best of teachers in the ways of priesthood and I will never forget all that you did for me.
